I cant blame him... Well that sucks.

You really think he's just sitting out the rest of the season? They had to physically prevent him from going back on the court the second half versus Hofstra. Do you see that brace on his knee? I don't think there is a decision. He's injured/hurt and does not have a choice.
I have no idea what you insinuated from my post

It may have been the "can't blame him" part that made it sound like he chose his professional career over the rest of this season.

But yeah, I think the injury probably didn't get much better and heal the way they thought it would. He was on crutches during the game with a heavy brace keeping that leg stable.

Absolutely devastated for Matt. He had a fantastic career and wish him nothing but the absolute best. So thankful he came back this year, he turned a lot of doubters into believers.

Why did you say “I can’t blame him.” Do you think he had a choice? He was in the verge of one of the best seasons in JMU history!

Ahh. Yeah if it was a fringe injury I wouldn't play if I were him. Maybe he has no choice, I don't know. Truth is we have no idea the extent of the injury.

Y'all 100% sure he won't be back next fall? I Mean his pro career is at best G league right now and maybe Euros. Would another year get him into the NBA?

I'd say nothing is 100% certain, but Coach B seems to think he's going pro based on his statement here:
https://jmusports.com/news/2021/2/26/men...eason.aspx

I wouldn't say he has no chance at NBA. I would also say he seems pretty happy on the team this year and also with earning the CAA title. If he did return to college basketball, odds are good it would be at JMU.

Sure there is a chance at the NBA but realistically we've had less NBA players than QBs in the NFL between Cawley and Dinucci and we have had some good QBs.

Understand your point, however there are less than 100 NFL QBs, and roughly 500 NBA players on rosters. So the odds seem slightly better. Granted, the competition is stiff and there are 68 teams in the NCAAT with players showcasing their skills. It's a shame that won't include Matt this year.

Well - At least now we know there is zero chance he comes back. Thanks for the update JMaddy. I had thought there was at least a long shot, but I guess that is not the case.

I would love to have Matt back but he needs to go Pro. His value only depreciates with each year to pro teams since he’s already 22. There’s a chance he could get even better with another year at JMU but pro teams would rather he do that under their direction and programs.

Great interview and they address some of the juicy message board content like when high majors were attempting to poach him with the coaching change. Excited to see what Matt does in his professional career and I think we are all forever grateful he chose to stay at JMU and usher in the née stadium and Coach B.

Matt comes across very well in this interview. After seeing what he did this season and hearing from him it’s clear he loves JMU. I think we can put to bed the negative things people have said about Matt and his game on these boards. On and off the floor the kid is a star. Shows that perception isn’t reality. People can assume someone is selfish etc when they are a team player.
