MBB v. UIW
...doesn't look like the game is gonna be cancelled. Should be fun to see what the starting five looks like, because it could go in a number of weird ways.

It will be interesting to see who steps up as the leader for this team. Also, Coach Pera has been far more open to a larger rotation to give players extended looks during the non-conference games.

Game should be available for free on UIW's website, if it works (let's see if they're better than Rice in that regard).

Great stream. The women played there two years ago and had the same excellent stream.

The starting five is: Evee, Mullins, Havsa, Clark, and Fiedler
I'm...not sure how we're going to score with that five? Unless Havsa, Clark, Mullins and Fiedler have all spent a ton of time working on their shots...

Some very good defense in the first few minutes. 5-2 Rice.

9-7 Rice with 15:36 left. Our passing has been really crisp. I'm still not sure I'm sold on that starting line up with Evee as the only consistent shooter, but they executed the sets pretty well. Defense has been generally good save for a couple late close-outs.

First three guys off the bench are Olivari, Moore, and Abercrombie. Abercrombie now playing the 5.
Lieppert is 4th guy off the bench.

17-17 at the under-12. Still no Hutchins, Sheffield, or Poteat. Evee with a few good looks that will fall eventually. Just don't think we can defend well enough with Abercrombie at the 5. He's basically a stretch 3/4.

A couple quick fouls on Abercrombie. He's looked off the pace on defense. 3-4 plays already where he hasn't moved his feet quickly enough.

And actually, looking at the bench, I'm not even sure whether Poteat or Hutchins are dressed.
Here comes Sheffield for the first time.

RE: MBB v. UIW
Sheffield way late on a corner closeout. Easiest way for a freshman to lose minutes.
Fiedler then misses a bunny on a FT OREB and then gives away a foul.

RE: MBB v. UIW
24-21 UIW with 8:00 left. Sheffield scores his first pts for Rice and follows up with an airball transition 3 (I'm fine with that...I'd rather out freshmen have confidence). Defense, apart from those first few minutes, has been sadly disappointing.
Note: Poteat is actually in a walking boot. Which is just great with Ondigo not with the team.

RE: MBB v. UIW
24-23 UIW with 5:19 left. Better defensive effort the past few possessions. But Fiedler is picking up some cheap fouls, and we have no backup big. Evee getting some good looks, just not hitting. Moore playing downhill, which is good and bad.

Abercrombie picks up another quick one, and walkon Moffatt enters the game. Shooting has gone cold.

RE: MBB v. UIW
32-31 Rice at the half. The defense sharpened up at the 8:00 mark, which was nice to see. Mullins and Moore were in attack mode. That means they can be a bit out of control, but I'd rather see aggressiveness than passivity from the PG spot. Evee got a few open looks that will eventually fall. I think Fiedler and Abercrombie both might have three fouls, but none of the stat pages are working.

Tre Clark has been pretty impressive. Looks to be a very fluid athlete and a good cutter. Shot mechanics also look better than what his numbers would make you think.
