I'd be surprised if we don't announce that we're playing a Sun Belt schedule and probably announce who the fifth FBS home game is before the full schedule is announced. Hopefully right after that meeting there's a quick "all four new members are joining July 1, 2022 and playing Sun Belt football in the fall" announcement along with JMU announcing that OOC home game.

If SBC announces all 4 members on 26th or 27th are in for 2022, there is zero uncertainty at that point about a full FBS schedule. I feel like its > 95% already.

As much as I'd love to know the 5th game, I'm ok if they delay announcing the full schedule until March when it is finalized and they start selling season tickets.

Especially if that 5th game is a nice surprise, it might help boost season ticket sales and drive some excitement/momentum.

Even though CUSA is trying to play hardball, it sounds like JMU is planning to have Bourne available for interviews on Tuesday.

JMU is down to two potential OOC FBS opponents for 2022, as Central Michigan announced their final opponent with be FCS Bucknell.

It’s now just two CUSA teams, FIU or MTSU. Time and teams appear to be running out.

I am certain the deal is already done for the 5th game. Time is not running out, we are on the verge of having some details being released once the CUSA schools get their exit paperwork signed. Looks likely next week now.

Even if it's FIU, what JB, Alger et al orchestrated here is simply remarkable. We will be playing FBS football immediately, with a strong conference of peers and rivals.

Or maybe we are playing the same FBS team twice next year

JB has always been VERY careful in what he says. I would be shocked if JMU ends up not playing an FBS schedule next season.
I believe they knew months ago that they had a 5th game, or at least a few really backup plans.
They have seriously been crushing it lately and would be truly shocked if it doesn't happen.
I think if it was even a question of happening, I think JB would have been talking about a normal FCS to FBS transition. That way if it didn't happen, we wouldn't know and they wouldn't have egg on their face.
I have no reason to doubt they won't get it done right now. That could change, but I think we'll be very pleased with the schedule.

It was stated the 5th game was necessary for JMU to qualify to play as an FBS team in the SBC. Without that, it seems highly unlikely the SBC would (or could) accept us. Beyond that, reputable sources have been saying its done. Suppose there is some non-zero chance something could somehow unravel, but we are at 99.9% or more certainty now.

Does anybody have some info about what that CollegeAD article says? Somebody out there has the subscription.

I'm surprised by this as well. Perhaps the other FBS teams have been asked by JMU to wait to release their schedule?
I'm glad to hear that the CUSA schools aren't going to play a factor on whether or not we will be able to go Sun Belt in all sports (football specifically). Obviously, we would much rather have them there, but it's not a requirement.
I am purely guessing, but I would say the silence could be contributed to the fact that the CUSA teams will be Sun Belt next season. If we were to announce our schedule, that could be problematic for Marshall/ODU/So. Miss... especially if they are still working out their exit plan.
One thing I really like about the Sun Belt already is it seems like all the programs are all on the same page. They want to help each other succeed and the sum is greater than each of the parts.
That is such a refreshing feeling from what we've experienced for a long, long time.

Vannini says we're opening up against MTSU next season.

Strong guess by the ones who were following the schedules. So guess we now know who our 5th home game is.
