That bodes well for a season of back-to-back games in a few weeks

Two more hours down the drain. Oh well. Lots of new faces. On to Radford.
UVA lost to San Francisco today and Bill Russell has graduated.

It’s early in the season, but I’m paying attention to the play of Matt Lewis, and hopeful he will play team ball this season. He scored 27 points today, but on 5-14 shooting. That’s not going to get it done. Assists were almost non-existent (because our shooting was so bad), and JMU lost the RB battle.
Matt Lewis is a player whose stats don’t need to be as impressive as last year if he gets the rest of the guys involved. So far it’s a work in progress.

Any help out there?

You can always just type James Madison into the search to find old games. You can watch old games as well - switch to FloFootball if you want to watch old football games - all of the different Flo entities are covered by your subscription.
As to discussion of what is the best deal, I would think if you watch both football and basketball, the year deal will be best. You can get the spring season this year and the 21-22 football season as well the first month of BB 21-22 as well for the $96 yearly rate.
Thanks.
It was a comcrap issue. Guy just left 15 mins ago, we were getting partial input/output, so chances are Flo was only partially getting through.

On the negative side, NSU was without their top scorer today.

It's one game so it's silly to overreact but it pretty much looked like the last 20 years. Seems to be a little more athleticism at least.

How in the world do you give up 48 2nd half points at home to Norfolk St.?
The one bright spot... Justin Amadi is the future of JMU basketball. Assuming he stays healthy, keeps developing, and doesn't transfer, he could be the best player the men's team has had in a decade (most pro-capable since Denzel Bowles)

The last 5 minutes of the game was a Rowe style collapse for sure. I agree about Amadi though, he is looking like a superstar.

3 questions we might not get the answer to until Monday when Mettlen can ask at the weekly press conference
1 - did Mensah get benched hard? Norfolk State’s big guy lit up JMU for 18 and 11 yet Mensah didn’t come back in the game after playing the first 3 minutes.
2 - is TJ Taylor coming off of a quarantine and out of game shape? He started for Wyoming last year and can’t get on the floor for JMU? 7 minutes Wednesday and less than 1 minute at the end today. What gives ?
3 - when will we see Christmas, Fredericks, and Hodge? I hope at least one of them is a starter and the other 2 in the main rotation.
I like that Coach By said his team needs to play angrier. However, that is his job to get done before they play and not afterwards when he is trying to explain a loss.
That was an upset loss at home today against a bad team that was playing their first game and missing their best player 1st team preseason all MEAC. No excuses really. They just got beat straight up.
Have to do better on Sunday against Radford.

RE: MBB vs Norfolk St 11/27 12pm
For what it's worth, this is what I saw today:
1. Right now, this team isn't very good and on both sides of the ball. With the eye test, their offense was horrid, no doubt, but the stats show the defense was also poor.
2. Contrary to what some think, the team that beat them today is talented, albeit from the MEAC. They returned 10 players from a team that went 12-4 in conference a year ago. I think JMU could play them 10 times and lose every time.
3. Getting Christmas, Fredericks and Hodge back seems to be imperative if this team has any chance this season. Right now this looks like a pretty bad team, unfortunately.
4. I don't like the offensive scheme at all of this team...very little player and ball movement and too many chucked up threes out of the context of an effective offense.
5. Mensah didn't play because he was bad. Of the transfers we've seen, Morse is by far the best player. He looks like a good player. Mensah is a developmental player. Hard to judge Taylor at this point.
6. Of the freshman, Amadi is the standout. Edwards hasn't shown well and Strickland is an undersized point man with a limited offensive game.
7. Lewis played a pretty good game today, but he's not a transformational talent, although he's among the top scorers in school history. Zach Jacobs wasn't good and Harvey hasn't developed. Wooden looks only fair in the early going.
8. Things will get better, but today illuminated where they currently stand and how far they have to go.

I'm right there with you on Taylor's playing time- puzzling. A guy that played as much as he did in the MWC shouldn't struggle to get minutes for our team.

Good point. I think Curt said NSU had their top 10 players (in terms of minutes played) returning this year. With disjointed practice time, a new coach & philosophy to learn and basically a whole new roster for JMU, that kind of continuity gave them a big advantage.

Glad I didn't cave and purchase flo... I ALMOST bought into the hype from trouncing a DIII petrographical college. new home, new coach, new players, same shiz. back to just checking the boards or espn app for score updates at the end.

RE: MBB vs Norfolk St 11/27 12pm
Lewis, Morse and Wooden all played significant minutes today. Amadi was next. I did not see the game but did notice that Morse had a decent stat line.
The loss sounded simple to me. Tied at 67 with just under four minutes to go. NSU makes shots and JMU doesn’t. It is the proverbial learning to win.
Basketball is very much a team sport. The lack of team play has always been what has hurt JMU especially late in games when the offense stands around and watches Lewis go one on one. My guess is the ball was in Lewis’s hands on every possession at the end and he did not convert. This is what JMU has done in past years. I also guess that multiple players for NSU contributed down the stretch.
It is very easy for a defense to stop one man but tough to stop multiple options. Don’t know if I am correct in my assumption but suspect I am. Is this what happened? Was Lewis the only one shooting on the late possessions?

I think Morse is solid. 2 games in so don’t want to make too many judgements and have to see Frederick and Christmas first but I’m thinking we could see a lineup of Lewis Strickland Christmas or Fredericks Wooden and Amadi on the floor a lot for the Dukes. Edwards shows potential but needs more seasoning. Harvey and Jacobs are solid bench guys and Morse is a perfect 6th man IMO. Mensah will likely be a project and depending on the opposition could play more of a role in certain games but Coach B likes to play small and I think the above 5 /rotation will likely be what we see.
