Save the cuckoldry for those that have served. The kids playing for a service academy team can play by the same rules and receive the same treatment.
Typical ignorant Liberal.

I'm no liberal, not by a long shot, and I agree with him.

RE: Navy game clock
Midshipmen have a social life
All of them are sponsored by local Annapolis families
It is also officer training so some of the social life is different but the entire experience is not like boot camp, other than plebe summer. The kids get terrific education, experience and become officers in return for a several year military commitment, which on a rare occasion can be changed
It is a good thing and they go with open eyes. 5-6 Memphis area kids are there. While football is football and during the game there is no need to give fawning respect, and the Army and Navy players are human and do some of the shenanigans that all college players do, they still usually comport themselves very well
And after the game the singing and respect tradition is worthy and beautiful
Feel how you want but we tear up every time. When Memphis lost that home game to the Middies in 2015 but still stood in mass behind them after that loss as a show of respect I thought it was the highlight of that season. So much lost on the field, but perspective afterwards
Sure, shove them on their ass during the game but the respect is earned

Stammers is an idiot and the guy wouldn't know a hole in the wall from his own head.
He agrees with who he wants and disagrees with who he wants.
I'm correct here.

Official time is kept on the field. By officials. They actually spent a minute reviewing this - and ADDED a second back to the game clock.
The game clock is run by someone in the booth at the LB. I know the dude.
Whether the officials keep a clock on the field, I do not know.
Official time is kept on the field. True for all of college and pros. He sets the play clock and keeps official time. There is a local scoreboard clock-keeper in the booth. If the booth clock and the official clock get off sync (and someone notices), the official will reconcile this with the booth. Happens about once per game.
So the sketchy booth operator has limited control on the actual clock. Unless someone just blows it.
In the Navy game, it was the officials on the field who stopped the clock with a whistle that should not have been blown. They then compounded this by reviewing their official time with the booth time and ADDING a second back to the scoreboard.

Right. Got it.
My buddy who runs the clock at the LB is on here. It was meant as a joke at him. Sorry for your confusion.

Except for giving up the traditional college experience and traditional coursework, forgoing a social life, spending summers in military training and committing to a minimum of five years of active duty.
Not disputing any of that.
Ten yards is still ten yards and holding is still holding.
Carful.... you're starting to sound like a conservative...

That's exactly what you just did. You can't even read or understand what you type. How can you be expected to have a clue about anything that anyone says?
Quote:academy kids that have done little yet other than receive a fine public education.
You claim you're not a liberal but you always defend liberals and always criticize conservatives. You claim you're a restaurant expert but you've never eaten at the most famous barbecue restaurant in the world, in the most famous city for barbecue in the world.
It demonstrates how poor your self awareness is.
Getting back to the original point...
Quote:There is a huge difference between respecting and honoring your country and laying down for academy kids that have done little yet other than receive a fine public education.
While they are in school, they have different tasks. Some spend time training on naval warships, where they may also clean and paint them. Some train on helicopters used in battle. Some fly fighter jets, or are deployed on nuclear submarines or have internships at the Pentagon. When they graduate, they have a 5 year commitment to serve.
According to you, they are no different than any other kids. Clueless as usual.

I never called myself an expert of anything. Prove where I have.
None of what you said - not one goddamned part - excuses preferential treatment by football officials.

Take it from the guy that thinks that spending the summer flying an F18 or painting an aircraft carrier is the same as hanging out at the beach.
