2020-2021 Hoops season predictions
What ya got?

The Dukes are coming off of an atrocious 4 year stretch and negative momentum heading into the opening of the $100 million AUBC. How long will it take to rebuild the mess?
Everyone starts with hindsight of a 1-0 start after today’s win and the schedule allows for 27 Regular Season games But JMU only has 26 right now. Who knows how many games will be postponed or cancelled or replaced or added.
With that in mind, go ahead and predict as if nothing will change and 26 games will be played and then at least one game in the CAA sudden death tourney.

Prizes - $100 gift card, an assortment of the world’s most delicious snacks, and Most importantly annual bragging rights.

We will use closest to the final winning percentage as the metric so if you pick 13-13 and 1-1 in the tourney, any combination that results in a .500 record puts you in the Winner’s circle. Tiebreaker will go to whoever Has the closest CAA Regular season winning percentage and then to who I think is the funniest poster. 04-rock

I will Start it off and temper my expectations as many friends on here have reminded me annually that we need to be patient and should not expect a coach to win in his first, second, or third years. It simply can’t be done and we should be patient. 03-puke

15-11 (10-8 CAA) 2-1 CAA tourney = .586 winning percentage

That’s right!!! JMU avoids the Keener-Rowe round and teases the fanbase with a trip to the the tourney final in another weak year for the CAA.

I believe the “Price-is-Right lowest bidder” has won This thread the last 4 years so 1-25 (0-18 CAA) 0-1 CAA tourney might not be a bad strategy.

Sorry if this has been discussed, so we play each conference team on consecutive days? That will be interesting. Hopefully we have depth, it seems we may have.

I predict we will see big improvements under Boyington in his first year running the program. I also believe this roster is better top to bottom than last year’s team.

5-3 OOC
10-8 CAA
1-1 CAAT

Overall: 16-12

RE: 2020-2021 Hoops season predictions
Since we are in sports limbo AGAIN, let’s summarize the season predictions and who is leading.
JMU currently sits at 4-4 .500 with a schedule that looks nothing like the one we had before the season. UVA, Florida, Ga Tech, Maryland, ODU, and George Mason did not happen in what has been a huge disappointment over 6 weeks of the season.
One sliver of goodness was grabbing the VCU game.

Reminder - we anticipated a jacked up schedule this year during CoViD and the winner is the closest to the actual winning percentage at the end of the CAA tourney.

Leader Rankings closest to .500
1 Bill .500
2 JMU08 .536
2 Bawlmer Duke .536
2 Dukesfan71 .464
5 nyduke .462
6 Rock House Duke .571
7 Hart .586
8 JMUDunk .393
9 JMU .621
10 AssyrianDuke .370
11 JMUNation .643
12 Formerjmusprinter84 .643
13 JMU90 .655
14 Deez Nutz .679
15 CentDukesFan 1.000

Bill , start planning how you will spend that $100 stimulus check. You are only 59 days away from glory as the tourney ends on March 9th.

RE: 2020-2021 Hoops season predictions
Status update to see who is in the running for the season prediction prize.

JMU sits at 13-6 with a funky alternate season schedule that was 8 games short of a full slate (27 max allowed). We missed huge games against UVA, Florida, Maryland due to stupid COVID. We also missed key state rival games against ODU and George Mason. Last minute games against teams called Alice Lloyd, Limestone, and Chowan were added - you can’t make this stuff up. As a huge college basketball fan for all of my life, I had never heard of Alice or Limestone. Weird times indeed.

It was expected to have constant scheduling changes so this year’s prediction contest is determined by closest to the winning percentage as stated in the initial rules.
With at least one Tourney game left and up to 9 games left if JMU goes on an historic tear and wins the national title, we are close to determining a winner.

JMU is 13-6 for a .684 winning percentage and here are the current standings...

1 Deez Nutz .679
2 JMU90 .655
3 JMUNation .643
4 Formerjmusprinter84 .643
5 JMU .621
6 Hart Foundation .586
7 Rock House Duke .571
8 JMU08 .536
9 Bawlmer Duke .536
10 Bill .500
11 Dukesfan71 .464
12 nyduke .462
13 JMUDunk .393
14 AssyrianDuke .370
15 CentDukesFan 1.000

After rigorous triple checks of the algorithm by Price Waterhouse Coopers, I think this is now a 2 horse race with Deez Nuts and JMU90.
Good Luck kids!!! 04-cheers

JMU90 here. I will gladly concede to Deez Nuts. Let's go get 3 wins and go to the NCAA tourney! Go Dukes!

I think anyone who predicted better than Hart deserves at least one bag of Cheetos with an ice cold beverage. Call is a consolation prize.
