Funny, but everyone though Memphis started out 7-0. It was 8-0. I knew it. Watching the replay.

I know it is Sam Houston State, but I am very pleased with our scoring distribution despite KD putting up 33 points. We had 4 players in double figures with two more that should have been in double figures too as Feron Hunt finished with 8 and Bandoumel finished with 9. William Douglas was a very welcome and pleasant surprise. He was a highly touted recruit coming out of HS in Memphis and hasn't produced at all in his first 3 seasons on the hilltop. He is now a redshirt junior and if he can contribute will add much needed depth to this team.

no more aac basketball today: next game is memphis tomorrow morning, then houston, memphis, and Tulane on Friday

what we learned today:
-usf needs work on offense and defense, i think the defense improves, doubts about the offense..yetna looked good in limited minutes

-memphis & houston are deep, dominated despite projected stars had poor shooting nights ..great defensive games

-kendric davis is still dominant-- smu is without 3 of its top 6 players no projected return date for any

- bonus- uconn defense looks horrible

also something ive been think about, certain teams dont play for 2 weeks will be at a huge disadvantage playing teams 5-6 games in...wichita has no choice..but cincy & ucf its by choice

Georgetown, Butler and St John's really struggled to put away inferior opponents.

We need to worry about WKU. Not great defensively, but they can fill it up.

No, the players and coaches need to worry about WKU. We can worry about the AAC tourney if we want. 03-drunk

We need to make the final. I think we can beat WVU. I mean I know it. I wasn't that impressed with them. They're good, but not better.

Agreed....we need a non conference ranked scalp with so few ooc games.

Huge test for Memphis today - we will find out if this team is really legit without Williams.

With the way games are dropping and changing I really feel like who is irrelevant. Wins are going to be stupid important. We need every AAC team win everyone of the 5-7 games they can squeeze in.

We forget the RPI is gone. The net rewards gaudy records and to a lesser extent now gaudy wins. If we can all come in undefeated the top four or five conference teams will be looking at dancing. That's not to say a ranked win wouldn't be double as important, but with so few games every one is as valuable as three ooc in a normal year. It's more important to not slip up then it is to grab a headline. Beating one good team and losing four games won't equal out this year.

Trying not to be to judgemental so early in this weird season where some issues may smooth out as the teams settle in, but everyone is looking solid. USF seems disjointed but with Yetna still working back in and the weird season that will hopefully get better.

Memphis’s defense is extremely impressive. They look like a Top 25 team to me.
