SMU is enamored by the 3 but has proven to be a lousy 3 pt shooting team. It led to our downfall against Cincinnati and helped cut our lead against Temple today. We need discipline and are sorely missing Tyson Jolly. I am starting to think SMU is not a very talented team. We probably belong in the 6-8th range in the standings. My revised prediction for SMU is 14-10 (10-10).

My team sucks but SMU didn’t look very talented to me last Thursday. Then again, UCF, USF, and Wichita State didn’t either.

This conference is a mess this year.

Freudian slip.

Everyone wants to play UC right now. I don’t blame them.

Wins are easier in the BE than the AAC.

Oh good, I thought I might have to go through that awful 2020 again. I swore the thread said AAC game discussions, I double checked and it did. Yet here was a husky fan crying their wares about.

RE: ***General AAC Basketball Game discussion***
SMU improved to 7-2 after beating Temple on Monday, keeping alive the conference's chances of sending two, or possibly three teams to the NCAA tournament.

Now, there are four AAC teams with records of 7-3 or better:

Houston 10-1; Massey Composite Rank: 6; NET: 6
SMU 7-2; Massey Composite Rank: 48; NET: 65
WSU 7-3; Massey Composite Rank: 62; NET: 64
Tulsa 7-3; Massey Composite Rank: 66; NET: 52

.

So do the WCC...

Gonzaga 12-0; Massey Composite Rank: 1; NET: 1
BYU 9-3; Massey Composite Rank: 47; NET: 41
St. Mary's 9-3; Massey Composite Rank: 54; NET: 63
Santa Clara 4-1; Massey Composite Rank: 135; NET: 92

...the Atlantic 10...

St. Louis 7-1; Massey Composite Rank: 20; NET: 15
VCU 9-3; Massey Composite Rank: 49; NET: 46
Richmond 9-3; Massey Composite Rank: 57; NET: 58
St. Bonaventure 4-1; Massey Composite Rank: 65; NET: 56

...and the MWC:

SDSU 9-2; Massey Composite Rank: 32; NET: 34
Boise 10-1; Massey Composite Rank: 43; NET 19
CSU 8-2; Massey Composite Rank: 63; NET 51
Utah St. 9-3; Massey Composite Rank: 71; NET 60

.

Do these comparisons indicate that the AAC is a "weak" conference, in comparison to the other non-P5 and non-Big East conferences?

No, for two reasons:

First, the AAC is stronger, top-to-bottom, than conference such as the WCC, AAC and MWC.

Second, none of the other three conference have more than two teams ranked in the NET or Massey Composite top 50.

.

The issue for the AAC is its high level of parity in 2020-21. There is so much parity in the AAC, this season, that the lowest ranked AAC team (Tulane) currently has a 6-3 W-L record.

The high level of parity in the AAC doesn't necessarily mean that that it's a very "weak conference," though it may seem that way because it has only one top 25-ranked team.

If the AAC were a very "weak" conference, it wouldn't be ranked as the #7 conference in the nation, ahead of the WCC (#8), the A10 (#9), and the MWC (#11):

Just shows how weak and overrated the Big East is.

Pulling for the huskies to win the Big East. Then you will all have to admit
that your normal yearly mid-pack finish in the AAC proves which conference is stronger. 04-rock04-rock

How many games is that now that ECU needs to make up? Looks likely they will play 2 games @ WSU now to make up for the December game.
