WBB vs. HBU
So we have a game in a few hours, barring a last minute cancellation. HBU wasn't good last year. Assume our starting five will be Mulkey, Wiggins, Smith, Schwartz, and ???

Croswaith would be my guess.

Does that give us enough on the defensive end? I was thinking probably one of Austin or Bellamy

Gives us a bit more uptempo but yes Bellamy or Auston would be better defensively. Would love to see the Austin that showed up in the A&M game for the entire year.

And Tiki was right after all. Four guard lineup is what Langley is going with. Will be interesting to see how we look on the defensive end.

Also, looks like we get a free stream because of CUSATV issues!

So tired of the cusatv always having problems. Won’t work on IPad with safari or chrome. Won’t work on windows with firefox or chrome.

Mulkey checks out halfway through the 1st and Bellamy replaces her. Rice down 8-9.

Playing a bit too quickly. We're a great half-court defensive team, but we struggle in transition.

17-16 HBU. 1Q assessment:

> Defense has been pretty awful. 17 pts to HBU in a quarter shouldn't be happening, especially with Erica being the only departure
> Too many bunnies missed
> Like Crosthwaite's aggression. Also like Bellamy being confident even if they haven't fallen

22-19 Rice w/ 5:00 left in the 2Q. Defense has been much more sound. Mulkey still a bit off (just 3-7 from the field).

RE: WBB vs. HBU
We are going to have to find some 3 pt scoring this year. Last year we got away with little 3 pt scoring because we could score in bunches with Erica driving.

RE: WBB vs. HBU
30-26 Rice at the half. Fine for the first half of the season in what's surely been a weird offseason, but that won't be good enough to scare any of the better teams on our schedule. Defense was shaky at points. A few too many TOs. Basically...a lot of what we saw last year.

Hopefully there are some adjustments. The offensive execution worries me, because a better team will be able to take Mulkey somewhat out of the game.

UH women won at Oklahoma 97-85. Have no idea if OU is any good but scoring 97 in the first game against anyone is strong.

4 3’s helped HBU but they were 2-9 from the line. Rice only got 4 FT attempts.

Just saw that 2-9 stat for HBU FTs. Anything close to a reasonable shooting percentage from HBU, and the Owls are down at the half. Need to step it up Owls!

RE: WBB vs. HBU
45-41 Rice. Regardless of how many points HBU scores, a pretty bad defensive performance so far from us. It helps that HBU's 5 can shoot the 3, which forces Mulkey outside the paint.

But the offense is also just not there yet. Mulkey has 16 shots with 4:21 left in the 3Q. That's fine against some of the teams on the schedule, but we're gonna need to be much more balanced against others.

Swayze is 3-3 from 3 point. Rice leads 50-41, 3:45 left in 3rd quarter.

RE: WBB vs. HBU
That 2-3 minutes of zone defense might be the worst few minutes of defense I've ever seen a Langley team play. 3 or 4 open 3s, 3 OREBs. But somehow no points. And then Mulkey hits a 3 (!!!) and Jackson gets a layup. 55-41 Rice w/ 1:23 left in the 3Q
