It’s likely neither team wanted to play anyways. Didn’t really benefit anyone.

Alabama tends to make opponents look like FCS squads or worse. Consider the scores of their games thus far...

@Mizzou 38-19
TXAM 52-25
@Ole Miss 63-48
Georgia 41-24
@Tenn 48-17
Miss St 41-0
Kentucky 63-3
Auburn 42-13

Auburn will play TXAM tough enough at home to make Jimbo earn a close win.

It’s impressive when you factor in how early their starters get pulled almost every game. They could have hung 60 on Auburn had they wanted to. Guys were that wide open and Mac Jones is a joy to watch throw deep balls in stride.

RE: Temple Game Canceled
I'm not in any way suggesting UC is Alabama. But this season, the Bearcats have migrated from winning (as the 'Cats did in '18 and '19 and early '20) to dominating opponents much of the season. UCF was a slow start against an athletically gifted team but UC still imposed its will on the Knights in the second half (though the final score didn't reflect that).

Here's hoping that Fickell stays. And that what he's built has some staying power too. I'm sure if we asked Saban whether it's harder getting to that level of winning or staying there, he'd say both. The pieces are in place here for a longer run than one great season.

Honestly, if you asked me before the season who Jones played for I couldn't answer. I know who he is now and the guy throws a great deep ball. I don't know how his game/talent translates to the NFL draft but he has to be getting the scouts' attention. Through 8 games he's thrown for nearly 3,000 yards with a 76.2 completion percentage, 23 TDs, and 3 INTs. Not too shabby.

RE: Temple Game Canceled
He’s a pretty cool story. Was buried behind Hurts and Tua and another guy ahead of him in class and they brought in a couple 5 stars behind him...99% of kids would have transferred out. He’s apparently the most competitive kid Saban has ever had...he said transferring would mean he quit. Stuck around, has worked hard, kept a great attitude, won the job in his final year and he’s likely going to win the Heisman and get drafted very high.

I mean it when I say that I’ve never seen anyone be able to throw a deep ball like him. Lots of guys have a cannon where they throw it down field and the WR has to adjust or come back to the ball or turn around...he regularly puts it over the correct shoulder and hits guys in stride 40 yards down field. When he makes the rare errant pass or bad read everyone on the field sort of pauses and looks at each other like “that was weird.”

Lawrence is the best player in college football this year but from what I’ve seen Jones is perhaps the best pure passing QB.

What is so impressive with Bama/Saban is they don't have a set QB system. They win with various types of QBs. I remember them grinding out a win at Ole Miss, after falling behind, by running Jalen Hurts on what seemed to be 20 plays in a row. The opposite of what one might expect.
