NIU up 38-18 at the half over UIC.

WMU plays tough w/ Butler all game but Butler pulling away w/ 5 minutes left

Broncos lose 66-62. I’m encouraged. Not bad for being a 19 point underdog. I don’t think Butler ever led by more than 7 at any time.

Ball State lost 73 - 74 to NKU. A bit disappointed with the loss, but NKU is a good program. We'll see where we go from here.

Miami won by 14 over North Dakota. We had exceptional play from our starting guards, Mekhi Lairy and Dae Dae Grant, who between them went 12 for 12 from the line and had 7 steals. only 3 turnovers, and 35 points. We have a transfer power forward ( James Beck transferred from Oakland, set out last year) who had 14 points and 10 rebounds, which was a nice addition.

Not a great start for the MAC: 2-6 with wins over N. Dakota and Chicago St. The low point was probably NIU blowing a 20 pt halftime lead to UIC and giving up 47 pts in the second half after only 18 in the first half. That’ll leave a bruise.

Saw that both the central Michigan and western Michigan games against trine were cancelled. I’ll remove them from above.

Toledo loses at buzzer to a very good Bradley team and rebounds w a blowout of Oakland but sees starting center AJ Edu limp off on his reconstructed right knee. His health is the key to Rockets defense.

Illinois has outscored their first two opponents 219 to 98. They've outrebounded them 117-28. It will probably be a long afternoon for the Bobcats.

Toledo had ample opportunities to take down X losing by three....
Without any inside game the Rockets will struggle at times...

Ohio lead late but two free throws with under 3 seconds left gave #8 Illinois a lead late. Illinois wins 77-75. Jason Preston with 31 and 8 assists.

6 of 8 MAC losses were by 4 points or less.

These included Illinois, Butler, Xavier.

Great game by Ohio but a tough ending. Team looks good. Preston was spectacular. Great story, too.

That was an excellent game. The BTN crew was great. First time I've seen Ohio this year and the play by play and color was very good.

Tough game to lose but the foul call was fair.

I was encouraged, too but in fairness, I think that Butler team will struggle offensively in their league. Broncos were right there with them the whole game.

It was and I think it was actually a good foul because I'm guessing Dosunmu hits the shot if he's not fouled. Everybody I know was texting me during the game to say how fun the game was. Illini roster is loaded with athletes.

All tough losses that easily could have been wins by OU/Western/Toledo...
Plus the Bradley-UT game was one the Rockets let get away...
