RE: CFP rankings
These rankings are a colossal joke.
The Ragin Cajuns have ONE loss, by a FG after a hurricane, to a ranked opponent. And yet they can’t be found.
The Iowa State team they curbstomped IN AMES, that has lost TWICE and has one victory over a ranked opponent, sits at 13th.

RE: CFP rankings
At least we can feel we’re actually 19... Wisky is ranked but won’t even be eligible after this week’s cancellation. Honestly, I’d hoped we come in around 16-17 with Marshall 3-4 spots behind us.

RE: CFP rankings
The AP/Coaches Poll is what matters once the dust settles. But a 3-2 Iowa at 24 is a joke. These rankings are horrible.

So...we need Cincy to lose in the AAC Title game for Coastal to have a shot.

Exactly. They won’t lose two in the regular season. Also need Marshall to either drop one, or not look better than Coastal, the rest of the way, just to be safe.

100%.
Anything's possible. Cincy could get struck with COVID and have players missing come CCG time.
I just don't foresee Cincy losing to SMU or Tulsa in the CCG otherwise.

CCU will have a P5 win and 2/3 quality wins if they win out. Marshall will have 0/1 quality wins.

You did see that Brigham Young is #14, right? They are not considered a P5 program, so they are #2 G5. And with only one game left for BYU, it's unlikely Coastal Carolina will pass them.

BYU is not in a conference, which makes them ineligible for the G5 Access Bowl slot.

BYU is independent and thus not eligible for the G5 berth. You have to win a conference title out of a G5 league to get that spot...

The BYU ranking is a joke they have obliterated everyone outside of one game. They dismantled Boise who has dismantled everyone else they played. They want to keep BYU from entering ND territory.

I think it more so has to do with their schedule. If BYU had played two or three P5's and beaten them, I believe it'd be a different story.
The news that BYU turned down a game with Washington definitely doesn't help them. There have been some opportunities for BYU to make a statement, such as scheduling Washington AND #15 Marshall... BYU reportedly hasn't worked hard to schedule either one.

It is pitiful they have BYU outside the top 10. They always pander to the SEC. Georgia has two losses and still has a shot to get back it. I don't care who you lose to, two loses shouldn't put you in sniffing distance of a playoff that allows only four teams.

While it’s not BYU’s fault, they can only play the schools on their schedule. And COVID did them no favors this year in that regard. They have wins against:
Navy, Troy, La Tech, utsa, Houston, TXST, Western Kentucky, Boise, North Alabama, and they play San Diego St on Dec. 12th.
Just on strength of schedule BYU can expect to be on the outside looking in . . .
