Anyone else have really slow loading times on this site lately?

Hey think I found what was causing this problem. Oracle changed some default values in MySQL 5.7 (the database software), and one of them is how long it waits before flushing changes to disk. Basically it's now too long of a wait for most workloads, so maybe 3-4 times an hour it would try to flush a crapload of stuff to disk and slow everything down.

Let me know if the slowdowns go away for you.

Also post this stuff to the Support Board so I can see it easier. I went searching to see if anybody else was having slow loads because it's so intermittent.

Some PITA threads are getting closed and I made some tweaks ... seems to be considerably snappier for me again at the moment at least.
