Also I looked at quite a few videos on YOUTUBE on the success Tony had today (due to Zeke Elliott's injury) and a lot of hard line Dallas fans and sports commentators are saying they think Tony is playing much better now (in 2020) than Zeke. That TD run was pretty spectacular and people are really getting behind Tony playing more. Some say, use him as a starter instead of Zeke.
Two different kinds of backs...Both can live together in the Dallas backfield.
But Zeke needs to quit trying so hard to be a power back and become more elusive. Seems like he really enjoys running people over...Even when there is an opportunity to go around them.
I don't think he can anymore. He is at an age where backs start to fall off of a cliff, production wise.
Derrick Henry is a year older and is still trucking away. But then he's a different beast. Zeke is still 25 but it appears the huge loads earlier in his career has taken a toll. He has never been an explosive runner but the fact that Pollard has done better against a below average O-line doesn't bode well for Zeke.

Quote:"If the Cowboys want to unload Elliott and get some cap wiggle room, a team like the New York Jets would make plenty of sense," Roling writes. "The winless Jets sit with the second-most projected cap space in 2021 at more than $81 million and figure to use the No. 1 pick on a quarterback like Trevor Lawrence.
"Those Jets could send a second-rounder to the Cowboys for Elliott, who they can use to absorb workhorse punishment while a rookie learns on the fly. The front office could then use the out in Elliott’s contract after the 2022 season."
Elliott's value remains high despite noticeable struggles. He only has one 100-yard game this season, hasn't scored a rushing touchdown since Week 5 and is averaging 3.9 yards per carry.
The emergence of backup Tony Pollard could factor into a decision. Pollard has 339 yards rushing and two touchdowns this season on 136 fewer rushing attempts.
I think Pollard would be fine as Dallas starting RB next season. They are going to get 3 former all pro's back when Tyron Smith, Zack Martin and La'el Collins return. They are building some depth on the OL this year with those guys injured. If they bring Dak back and plan to chuck it around like they were earlier this year, Pollard would be a perfect fit. Trading Zeke would make sense to free up the cap space..........which is why Jerry wont do it.
If they can somehow get out of $50 million of his contract and get a draft pick out of it, they should. There aren't too many suckers in the NFL, but there's still the Jets.
Therein lies the rub. Who's gonna pony up to bring Zeke and his contract to their team?

I haven't had the time to figure out the exact details, but I do know that his salary for next season is fully guaranteed. IF he is not on the roster on the 5th day of the season next year, his salary isn't fully guaranteed for 2023.
I don't know how much would be guaranteed if they release him before next season, but it seems that whoever signs him would only be on the hook for that season and the year after. For $15 million a year for two years, he would probably be worth the risk to someone. Probably more so, for good teams that have their feature back suffer a long term injury.
Guys like Bell and Antonio Brown have to stop going to teams like the Jets. It is career suicide.
