Yes. He’s six years running “not being in the tournament” and likely will be fired after this season. We have a ton of upside. They’ll be back to square one.

A four hour drive renting 2 buses, and 2-3 nights at a relatively inexpensive hotel is definitely not a bad deal for the school or the team. A noon starting time New Year's Day is definitely good for the fans.

I don’t care if it’s the Boll Weevil Bowl, I just want to see our Tigers win a bowl game again.

Sounds like they want Ole Miss and have surveyed the Big 12 about how many traveling fans different teams anticipate. The only way I see the Tigers in the game is if the Big12 can’t provide a team. Doesn’t seem likely right now. Steve Ehrhart is on Sports56 every week and is all SEC/Big 12 right now.

If only X % of the stadium can be full, what does it matter where the fans come from?
More ratings if SEC/Big XII?
Hotels/restaurants aren't running at max are they?

They inked a new six-year agreement agreement with the SEC/Big12 last year (including an increased payout). I’m thinking they want to keep that relationship as strong as possible. Making sure that matchup happens would be a good start.

Helps with planning and packages. Even though there won’t be as many events, Ehrhart suggested there will be some. Last week’s interview should still be archived as well as previous weeks for anyone interested. They are planning for a Big12/SEC matchup. Doesn’t mean that can’t change, but that’s been their thought process (at least Ehrhart’s public stance) all season.

They might take Ole Piss at 4-5, but they would be a tough sell for everyone at 3-6. No Big 12 team will want to play them, their fans won't want to travel, and Ole Piss might not even want to play, and their fans might not be too interested either.
IF MSU can beat Ole Piss this weekend, there is the very real possibility the local teams end up like this...
2-7 UT
3-7 MSU
3-6 Arkansas
3-6 Ole Piss
This would be a nice way to bring a little bit of joy to 2020.

IMO, we aren't finishing high enough to go there. It will be Tulsa or SMU or whoever. My guess is we wind up either in Montgomery, or one of the minor Florida Bowls.
Also, the new stadium is scheduled to open in B'Ham for this bowl next year.
Pays more than most other AAC bowls also.

Ehrhart is still talking like this is a normal year. I think there will be lots of teams that opt out of bowl games-- and I could see the SEC and Big XII both opting out of the LB-- especially if they are both asked to plug in teams with losing records.
This is going to be a bowl season like no other.

& sadly each of those teams have a better chance at a LB invite than we do........is what it is.......this year fan attendance should not be a concern considering I would assume the schools would be limited to roughly 6K max each as existing crowded restrictions are unlikely to be lifted by game time.
& with 3 of those schools with new head coaches I don’t see them turning down the extra practice time the bowl game would allow.

I also think you can argue that the schools and the coaches won't want to go through all the crap involved with the virus and play another game. I think all bets are off if the best of them is 3-6. The $EC has 7 teams at .500 or better right now. Kentucky and Ole Piss are the best bets to get to 4 wins out of the also rans.
We will see what we will see...
