UCF Fans - Are you happy with Josh Heupel?
First off, I come in peace.

He seems like a good not great coach. He kind of reminds me of Butch Jones. He’ll keep you in the top third of the league, but that’s about it. I hated that about Butch.

Maybe, I’m way off, and you guys feel like he can take you to the promised land again. Anyways, I’m curious of your thoughts.

You're off imo. UCF has 3 close losses in a year where a bunch of players opted out and injuries. With a full deck they are the best team in this league imo. I was pulling for Cincy last night for playoff purposes, but UCF is the better team with their full roster imo.

There's no doubt ucf is very good and is missing some key pieces. But the most talented team isn't always the best team. They got beat by memphis who in my opinion had more important players out than ucf. And they have a 1st year head coach. If ucf is truly the best team they don't lose that game

They missed a chip shot FG on the road for the win. Meh.

Very average coach . Good talent at UCF. Team should have gone into last nights game 7-0. UC should have been UCF 1st lost of the season. UC has a better QB,TE, DT and CB than what UCF has. I have been a UCF fan for over 30 years. UC was very impressive last night. I hope UC can stay undefeated because I think they can win a bowl game versus a high level team. Every team at this point has players that have opted out, hurt etc ..

There is always going to be players missing or players hurt. That's all part of it. The results seem to be trending down. If you say there is good reason for that, I'll take your word for it.

I think UCF is a good program and should be near the top every year.

In my opinion they had their most important players on the field last night and still lost... The refs.

I was watching the 2nd half thinking that the refs were jobbing UC, not the other way around.

I'm assuming you mean UCF. But clearly you missed inadvertent whistles, terrible spots, a very late PI call that wasn't even on the db defending the receiver where the ball was thrown, etc, etc. It was about as poorly officiated if a game as I've seen in a while. I had an Ohio State fan and me a text about it... Saying he's no UC fan, but couldn't believe how bad the officials were jobbing the Bearcats.

Make no mistake, the AAC crews are the bottom of the barrel. But last night was a new level of silliness even for the crews in this conference.

For years, UCF was the best team in the conference and set the bar for teams in AAC. Other teams in the conference got better each year. For UCF to win back the conference crown, they will have to get better than before.

You realize UC was missing their leading tackler plus a defensive lineman who is rated #1 by PFF. They also lost their most explosive RB to an ACL as well before this one. Stuff happens and nobody is 100% this time of year. UCF had no answer for UC’s very talented and big tight ends, save for help from the officials blowing an inadvertent whistle.

This is accurate. Ucf would have won if they could have mustered a pass rush.

Not happy with Heupel. He has very talented players but no discipline. I can’t tell you how many points we’ve given up this season over stupid penalties. He’ll get ahead and then get comfortable and relax the play calling. Every game we lost since he’s been here is that exact same format. His ceiling is being close to the top but that’s it.

Having said that I’m not ready to fire him if there isn’t someone in the wings that can run this offense and fix the deficiencies.

I will accept no argument that the refs favored UCF last night. The inadvertent whistle clearly screwed UC, but they scored anyway.

The refs blew an obvious fumble recovery by UCF. It is clear as day on video that UCF recovered and had possession of the ball with the player down. If that is ruled correctly and UCF scores again there, the game is more or less over.

Additionally, UC was not called for holding all night. The announcers even highlighted a play where the center was downfield and held clearly. You could put together a highlight tape of all the holding that occurred and was not called.

Further, the play where UC should have been called for targeting on Gabriel and instead UCF was flagged for the OL defending his QB despite the Cincy player jawing and getting in Gabriel's face. Absolutely ridiculous.

The AAC has awful refs. Consistently awful. There were blown calls on both teams, but Cincinnati was the overall big beneficiary of blown calls.

That's probably about right, though Heupel still has time to improve a coach. Butch was what he was given his experience level at that point. Heupel is still in Year 3 of being a head coach.

Heupel is 2-7 in one score games. It suggests to me that he has not learned how to lead the team with the game on the line. The team lacks a killer instinct. When we got the ball back up 14-3, I knew we would not score. We very consistently never score in that situation and fail to bury the opponent when we should. Heupel got conservative, and we punted. He always does it. I believe he should stop being the playcaller and focus on being the head coach.

I also think Randy Shannon needs to go. There are various arguments and data that support that he has done a good job. I don't even necessarily disagree at some level, but his defense is not the correct scheme for the offense we run. We cannot afford to have just 4 possessions in a half and leaving our defense on the field for long periods of time like the 8:30 drive. We need an aggressive, blitzing defense that keeps the QB under pressure and can get off the field much quicker.
