No more available football scholarships?
I follow a recruit who is announcing his commitment today. High 3 star rated player. He messaged me on Twitter and told me he reached out to the coaching staff, I’m assuming to commit, and was told there weren’t any more scholarships available... guess my question is, does anyone know if the NCAA up’d the scholarship total? Also, are there some commitments we don’t know about? It’s good to have loyalty to guys that have already committed, but where do we draw the line when highly rated players are involved late? ...Any info or opinions?

https://www.king5.com/article/news/healt...%20season.
Seniors will be permitted to return next year and not count against a sport's roster or scholarship limits.
And while the NCAA is giving back the eligibility, no athlete is guaranteed financial aid or a scholarship. Those decisions will be left to the schools.
Major college football teams could end up with 100 or more scholarship players next season. The thought of bringing back a bunch of sixth-year seniors will bring smiles to some coaches — especially at programs that rely more on developmental players than blue-chip recruits who tend to be short-timers anyway.

Nice! Thanks for the info. Got to imagine a couple guys or so will take their chance and declare for the draft. I’m expecting Watkins and S Brown to leave.

My instinct tells me there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Maybe so. You may know who I’m referring to. Didn’t want to put his name out there but that’s what he dm’d me about 30 mins before he committed. I was surprised to see what team he picked so you may be right.

If we’d stay away from walk-on promotion, we’d have spots.
We’ve turned away better players than we’ve signed and/or promoted. We’ve currently got a commit(unless Cable backed off) from someone who participated in sticking a pool stick up a teammates butt in HS....

Wow... we’re undisciplined as it is. Hard to see how someone with that back ground will benefit the locker room. I don’t know all the details, so it’s hard to come to a conclusion, but I hope the staff has a real good reason for accepting that type of behavior.

What’s really terrible is this has happened on multiple occasions so it’s not even possible to narrow the story down.
