Rice vs UTEP
No fans for the game (aside from family).

But they do want your contributions for the scholarship fund.

Wish the BOT would show Leebron the door. Rice hasn’t had any sort of vision during his tenure, especially in Athletics. HBU, UH and UHD all seem to have better plans for the future than Rice at the moment.

Back during the Bailiff years, we were urged on this board to show displeasure by withholding contributions and attendance.
Maybe it is time to do that again.

Sounds like the powers that be are doing that for us, at least the attendance part.

RE: Rice vs UTEP
This week I bought season tickets for MBB and WBB. The first WBB home game is Wednesday. If they don’t let me in, I’ll be pretty disappointed. If they do let me in, why not UTEP outdoors.

Good point. Maybe we should tell them we agree to write checks only at the stadium.
I like that idea!

Because some bureaucrat said so.

Because of idiot Republicans who "know more than the scientists".

And it depends on what you mean by “shutdown”. Lots of different definitions and viewpoints.

So why will this new one work? Or did you not comprehend the simple statement he was making.
Europe shutdown before and they’ve shutdown again. Lots of Republicans in Europe?

Spot on.
What this whole thing has really exposed is how much power we have ceded to bureaucrats, and how incompetent they are.

RE: Rice vs UTEP
Leebron’s run out of excuses. Classes ended today, so all students are headed off campus until January, so there should be no risk of students mingling with the heathens outside of the hedges at a football game. I’m sure some are remaining on campus for various reasons, but I’m sure none of them will be attending the next two games, even if they could attend. Yet for some reason, we cannot allow a few thousand people to drive onto campus and walk to an outdoor building to sit far away from other people for four hours. But, it’s also apparently ok to allow students to go back to their homes where their 50+ year olds parents live, which is against whatever policy the CDC drew out of a hat today.

I can’t reconcile no fans at the huge outdoor football stadium, but maybe 15% attendance indoors at Tudor. The nearer we get to an actual home basketball game the more likely I think we will get a no fans announcement for basketball, too.

Agree. Good post. I didn't know the students were gone. There's no reason to keep us out. Leebron should be let go. Gillis would have handled this like a man.

My 100% Democratic school board, in capitulation to the 100% Democrat-supporting teachers' union, is on its 9th straight month of ignoring the overwhelming scientific consensus that in-person schooling can be done safely with reasonable precautions and is vital for kids. That's not just idiocy, it's intentionally harming kids and families for purely political interests.

This board is so remarkably toxic these days. Almost impossible to find a thread that doesn't descend into either "get rid of Karlsgaard and Leebron" or some other criticism about the university or its politics.
