I think we needed to work out a byu game & win (very hard to do) to have a shot at ny6. Now with PAC 12 scheduling OOC that pretty much kills any chance of a byu game. Now we have to hope Costal/Cincy lose, probably twice in Cincys case.

It's great that the small conferences and BYU are so we'll represented in the top 25 this season. It's proves that we belong. Way to go Thundering Herd!

Without reading article and just seeing the Thread Label, I had told a friend that Liberty would be the next UCF, but corrected myself and said the next BYU.
Strong religious college rolling in money. Can make it independently and that fan base is solid. They’ll hand us our ass over the next few seasons.
BYU should take Colorado’s place in the Pac 12. Colorado would return to Big 12. Without watching Marshall more than one time this season, believe it was game 1 or 2. I said they are far too strong up front for anybody out of the west. Nice speed and athleticism at skill positions, Something UAB don’t have.
Coastal Carolina has been off to the races since they had a 2nd half destruction of us in myrtle beach in 2018. Still pissed we laid down for em.

BYU and Cincy are favorites to get NY6 bids Cincy the G5 spot BYU an at large spot. Being Idle for two weeks hurts chances for Marshall, but Coastal still has Liberty on the schedule I'll be surprised if they win that. A loss by Coastal leaves only Cincy between Marshall and NY6. IF UCF can somehow beat Cincy Marshall has a shot.

This article was most interesting to me. Especially Doc Holliday's quote about wanting to play BYU, it sounded like he was frustrated that we couldn't get anything worked out.
I'm hoping for a Thanksgiving miracle...
I think a one loss American champion beats an undefeated Marshall and Coastal. It will take a two loss American champion for Marshall to sneak in. Currently even if Cincinnati loses one, they're still on track to play Tulsa, SMU or UCF in the championship. It's going to take UCF or SMU somehow winning the American championship for us to have a shot.
Beating a ranked BYU would be a massive game changer that looks like won't happen...

I disagree. An unbeaten Coastal would have 3 wins vs. AP Top 25 Teams, if Louisiana makes it to the CCG ranked.

If Marshall beats BYU, there's nothing Coastal Carolina could do that would allow them to leap Marshall.
However, it's looking highly unlikely we will play BYU.

Someone dropped the damned ball on BYU. We should’ve offered to go to Provo for a pittance and cracked helmets.

I can't remember a better G5 season overall.
Cincinnati could probably play in the playoffs.
BYU could still get into a NY6.
And Coastal Carolina or Liberty could remain undefeated.
There is a scenario where the G5 has four unbeaten teams at the end of the year. Crazy.
The only year I can remember being this good was the year Boise State and TCU played undefeated.

Reading that article makes me believe we tried.
I mean, if you read between the lines on Doc's quotes, it sounds like they were fully aware of the scenario, and seemed dejected that something couldn't get worked out.

From the article...
"The thought of Marshall throwing together a game against BYU sounds fun, but realistically it would be tough to pull off.
“I’d love to play them,” Holliday said. “Ultimately, what you’re trying to do when you’re in a conference is win a conference championship. The question you have to ask yourself is: Is playing somebody out of conference right now, is that worth it? Maybe it is?” "

Well, if we tried, then good for us.

Looks like Coastal just lowered Marshall's ceiling. I don't see how Coastal does not pass Marshall after equaling Marshall's best win of the season. App St. looked Awful today or Coastal is just than good.

Zach Thomas, App. QB, is not 100% and it’s obvious. With that said Coastal is a damn good team this year. I’m looking forward to getting some revenge in the SBC CCG.

I’m kind of rooting for Coastal to win out. They’re like the unexpected story of the year.

Well Cincy took care of business likely doesn't matter Coastal ranking and Marshall not playing BYU, Cincy will not make the playoffs baring a meltdown of the P5 teams ranked ahead of them or just behind them.
