Now obviously the configuration is different with the track, and the tarps need to be noted... But other than that? TOP NOTCH endzone facility and cool hill with the Convo in the background. The press tower defiantly needs work... Your stadium could be worse! In 2011 it needed accessed and it was. I'd say the track alone keeps it behind other similar MAC stadiums.
Keep the grey, it's unique.
I like the HOF players and years on the stands.
I like the scoreboard, a second wouldn't hurt?
I like the bowl logos on the far sideline.
I like the name factory and the team entrance.
I love the uniforms and embracing of a theme.
This may be re-hash for many here, but here goes.
As we know, the SAPC complex was originally to be TWO phases. I believe the cost that Christian Spears, etc. had was 40M+
It was obvious that getting money for Phase I would be difficult and Phase II virtually impossible.
Where things get difficult is that Phase I was to be the SAPC in the corner (NW) by where the band sits.
There were problems I believe with the soil and it would have added significantly to the cost. So the SAPC was re-designed and built where it is now.
Lest I be wrong, an IPF, with a track, was to be built where the SAPC is now. The outdoor track was to be moved. The new IPF track would replace the one at Bowen. Bowen would have been vacated.
WHAT I would like to have seen, GIVEN that there wasn't to be a Phase II (unless someone hits Powerball and makes a big donation):
1). I would loved to have the field moved SOUTH I guess maybe 20 or 25 yards.
2). That would have allowed the SAPC to be built about 25 yards south of where it is.
That would have made the stadium more 'intimate' especially for those watching the game from the concourse by the Convo.
3). Then redo the track and choose another color, most likely green.
HOWEVER, that would have cost a LOT of money. Moving the field isn't cheap. Moving the track isn't cheap.
And, yes, to UT fans, a second simple scoreboard in the south end zone would be nice.
