MyBB Crossover Classic - Texas A & M drops out
Another one bites the dust. ESPN just scrolled that TAMU dropped out of this basketball tourney. I'm inclined to stay home and play Lemoyne Owen and Christian Brothers in this Covid year.

So if we go and all the other teams back out do we win and does that help our NET ranking?

RE: Crossover Classic - Texas A & M drops out
the easy answer would be to match up WVU and Memphis...then add 1 more available team.

I will say Penny seems to appreciate the blue & gray more than the football program. We're cranking out the 80s/ 90s Memphis State uniforms and only the occasional black ones in hoops, while the football team is wearing the generic grocery packaging black and white uniforms and the Cincinnati Bengal wannabe helmets.

You guys talk about Memphis basketball like we're the 1986 Celtics. Yet, seem to forget that we are basically .500 in conference over the past 5+ years and haven't been legit Top 25 in a decade.

We need to win more and talk less. Sorry, not sorry.

I love the MEMPHIS STATE uniforms ----and yes I was one that hated the name change and still do-----heck even half the media/announcers/commentators still call us MEMPHIS STATE .

I'll take the 1986 Tigers...and a neutral court in the NCAA tourney.

I don't hear any of you complaining about having home court in the NCAA the year before vs. Purdue.

IIRC...that was 1984 (2 years prior). ORU and Purdue at home in the first two rounds.

I graduated UofM a full decade ago and I was in Kindergarten the last time the school name was Memphis State. Might be time to let it go.

RE: Crossover Classic - Texas A & M drops out
Northern Iowa replaces A&M. Here are the current KenPom rankings for each team in the field.

West Virginia 8
Creighton 14
Memphis 39
Utah St 69
Saint Mary’s 74
No Iowa 76
Wichita 97
S Dakota 98

We play SMC first, then either WVU/ No Iowa, then someone in the other bracket, all depending on who wins and who loses when.

I was young, I think I went to the ORU game with my granddad. The only thing I remember from those NCAA games (we got there early and watched both games in the session) was Houston's warm up jerseys that had "Phi Slamma Jamma" on the back; and I think that Olajuwon's name on his jersey was "Akeem" instead of his last name.

I was there and 13 years old at the time. In addition to Houston, La Tech and The Mailman was there. Lots of legendary talent all over the building those two nights!
