Yes. It. Is.
Unfortunately, I think a Biden-Harris administration carries with it the very real possibility that it is over for the USA.
So, when are you leaving?
You know, I really don't appreciate flippant comments about something that is a very serious decision for me.
For me personally, it is better if I stay a couple more years. Some good things vest for me in about a year and a half. Also, I am pretty much insulated from the things that I foresee. What I see happening is that the democrats' proposed tax and regulatory policies will pretty much complete the exporting of our middle class due to offshoring. If I were 25, it would be a disaster. At 75, not so much so.
Things I will watch for:
- Single-payer health care is basically a death sentence for me, given my age and health status, so I would be inclined to leave quickly if that came to pass. I would be quite happy if republicans finally got off their asses and managed to attract enough moderate democrats to pass some form of Bismarck, but I don't see San Fran Nan allowing that to happen.
- Any significant gun control legislation would also be a trigger. Not because I have accumulated an arsenal, nor have any desire to do so, but when the. government controls your health care and takes away your guns, you are little more than slaves to that government, and I don't want to be here for that.
- Basically, any significant moves by government to take more control of our lives would incline me to leave.
The problem I am finding is that as Ronald Reagan said, "The USA is the last, best hope of freedom. If we lose it, there won't be anywhere to go." So the list of options is pretty bad.
