Congratulations,Hoosiers! Really good looking team that never quits.
As utpotts pointed out a couple weeks ago, and I now fully agree, tOSU secondary is in need of major improvement.
Indiana is good, they are a legit Top 20 team this season. Penix is good not great, his wide receivers bail him out quite a bit, it doesn't help they couldn't get a running game going today. Ohio State's secondary was exposed today, Shawn Wade is a good DB, but they had no answer for Fryfogle or Phylor. But the OSU secondary really needs for their Dline to constantly put pressure on the QB or they get beat.
Also I'm selling on Master Teague, I know he had 160+ yards today, but outside of the 41 yard TD run, He looks like a slower version of Ron Dayne. If Dobbins was in the backfield today he would have been over 200+ yards today. Also I have yet to see the hype in Tre Sermon.....
Ohio State is the best team in the Big Ten, but they do have some holes.
Looking at this nationally, right now, it's Alabama and then everybody else.
I still think Clemson is up there as well, if they get healthy defensively. The SEC might be weaker than the ACC+ ND this season.
Liberty is going for 3-0 against the ACC tonight. Liberty to the SEC!

RE: Open Thread - CFB - NOV. 17-21
I've been a defensive backs coach at the D-III level for 30 years and what I cannot for the life of me figure out is how Ohio State allows so many wide open kids, literally nobody within 10-15 yards of the receiver. Something structural is amiss. It reminds me of when Schiano was defensive coordinator there were times when the front didn't include a contain player at the LOS, a fact that was not lost on Maryland in 2018. That team also gave up big plays based on what I considered lousy pursuit courses. I get the fact that they lost good secondary players but the replacements are all fabulous athletes and how they get so out of position leaves me puzzled. Coombs is a proven commodity and I have always liked Mattison but something is screwy.

Yep, no excuses for the loss of players to the draft, it's nothing more than an excuse and I hate it. You're right, guys wide open way too much. I don't understand why they had Browning, playing out covering a wide receiver? He's a linebacker, wouldn't that classify as a broken down defense? There weren't 5 receivers on the plays he did this. I would think the only receiver he would be covering is a tight end?

I agree. It may look good in theory to have Browning out covering space but that's the kind of matchup OC's look for. Not an athletic mismatch so much as an assignment one. Sometimes the NFL experience is a mixed blessing, coaches get exposed to different concepts that don't necessarily translate even at elite college programs. Those kids may very well wind up playing those techniques in the pros but they are immersed in it in a way that even D-I elites can't replicate. I don't know, it may be something completely different than I am thinking. I should probably be looking for the horse instead the zebra. As it now stands Ohio State's defense doesn't qualify as championship caliber.

Ha, I bet it is!
The conference only schedule has made things very interesting. Throw in some cancelled games and wondering what tomorrow may bring, it's been an interesting ride!

Me too. They are playing with greater passion and energy. Michigan and Penn State are in grave danger of losing their "mystique" ala Nebraska. Teams that once entered every game expecting to win are now experiencing creeping doubt.

Prior to this year, Penn State won 11 games in three of the last four years while winning the conference once and appearing in three (winning two) NY6 bowls. Throw in a Heisman candidate who went second overall in the NFL draft and Penn State is still an elite program no matter how this pandemic altered season finishes. They may be having a bad year but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Yeah, Neither Penn State or Michigan are at Nebraska level. Recruits alone are separating them from Nebraska right now.
