If we would have signed him instead of LSU, he would have been the 7th highest ranked recruit in our history. Common sense says that you write him off as a football player before he has taken a snap.

07-coffee3 So if we had signed him and he raped a couple of our Memphis co-eds then you think it was worth it ??

07-coffee3 Refer back to post #1 by tigerx3. I am just saying that with the final action taken by LSU that I sure would not recruit him just to get a supposedly better QB and take the chance with him doing the same thing at the Univ. of Memphis.

RE: Well crap.
It's unsettling.

What did the Title IX board at LSU find?

Why make such a confident assertion, if you're Silverfield, that Parrish was appropriately vetted? This still seems to be an evolving, open situation-- why not say that they are looking into the issue? The way that he stated it makes it sound really bad-- that we knew about the allegations and still deemed him to be Memphis material.

We've taken our share of second-chance players in the past. Usually, they finish their time here without incident. The Parrish case is unsettling, though, in that he is coming from a culture rife with sexual misconduct-- and he's going to be our QB-- our leader both on and off of the field. Further, he may be replacing high-character Brady White.

RE: Well crap.
I'm wondering if anyone has insight into the culture of our program right now.

On the one hand, we have a fair amount of players opting out or entering the transfer portal. Some seem due to behavioral issues or to misgivings about coaching. Is Silverfield making a sort of ethical stand against off the field shenanigans?

On the other hand, we have this Parrish situation. And we have had our share of off the field issues.

Basically, is Silverfield running a tight ship or not?

I am no expert, but I would think/hope that he will be on a short leash for behavior at Memphis. Maybe his first 2 strikes were at LSU, and this is his chance to keep his nose clean, but one more strike and he gone...?

Life doesn’t stop after mistakes.

IF there is any lingering doubt on whether or not he is guilty, I for sure wouldn't take him. Unless he raped the woman he deserves a second chance, but not at Memphis. Hugh Freeze didn't get his second chance at LSU, convicted felons don't get out of jail and run Microsoft. A lesser school can give him that chance.

The other question is when a person deserves a second chance. Was he punished sufficiently? If he did something that merited a 20 year prison sentence, he doesn't deserve a second chance after being suspended from school for a year when he wasn't going to play behind the Heisman winner anyway. If he didn't do anything wrong, he didn't deserve any punishment.

It all depends on what he did or didn't do, and how much of the truth and information we have. Silverfield insists that we vetted him thoroughly. Considering that we kicked a Memphis kid; our highest rated recruit off the team in May for missing meetings; I would think that the program isn't exactly being run like the wild wild west.

I'm disappointed with this decision by Silverfield and those above him. Giannatto said that the details of the LSU Title 9 investigation into this incident were very disturbing.

I hear you. I think he can be a hack too. I was referring to what he said about the witness accounts of the incident.

Giasnotto has no access to anything. Everything he writes is a guess at best. His guesses are a form of revenge for having no access.

No one cares what Gianatto says. He is always hating on the Tigers. Pizz on him!

Again I don't care about Giannatto. I care about the program. I don't think it's cool for people to take advantage of inebriated girls.

I don’t think he was ever convicted of it.

Your right but I don't think we have to take on the risk. Ferguson and White were both 4 star transfers without baggage.

I wouldn't have taken on the risk, but then again, I don't have all of the information that Silverfield says he has. That and his potential as a football player are completely separate issues.

If it's like Kavanaugh you take him. If it's like Harvey Weinstein you don't.

Where in post #1 does it say he was brought on charges? He was accused and suspended by LSU. There was nothing criminal ever brought. If there was a real case for rape, why weren't charges filed.

It's a he said, she said. Smells so much like someone changing their mind after the act.

So I just want to clarify, because so many here seem to think charges were filed and he's a criminal. If you have the opinion we shouldn't have taken him, then that's a valid opinion. But don't indicate that he is a known rapist - which is sort of what your post did.
