UCA participates in the Southland, which sponsors baseball. Indicates they are moving from the SLC. I don’t think the SLC would allow them to put their baseball team elsewhere.

I thought they would be stuck getting a bunch of D2 move-ups as part of their expand-and-split scheme. Getting all three of these would be a dream scenario for the ASUN.

Both Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State wanted UNA in the OVC when UNA was wanting to move to D1.

UNA and Central Arkansas has a pretty good history going back several years.

Not saying any of that has anything to do with this.

If true, kinda kills any MEAC to ASUN rumors

Would the three schools be allowed to keep football in their respective conferences, or are they moving to the Big South? Or is the ASUN going to sponsor FCS football after all?

And is this really a better fit for Eastern Kentucky than the OVC?

EKU had applied to the Sun Belt. JSU has made FBS noise before.

Hadn't heard anything about UCA in that regards UCA is the strangest one - way out of the footprint. At least the other two have a fairly close team already in the A-Sun

I see Central Arkansas as a better fit in the Summit

The ASUN is (from what I've been told) trying to get to 16 and split into divisions. This will give the ASUN 12.

The 16 number has to do with wanting to have FCS football, and covid. Have 2, 8 schools divisions and move to playing all championship tournaments in 1 location.

Maybe the commissioner has contacts in C-USA/SBC that are telling him that a reshuffle is eminent and he’s trying to put together a group of schools who could catch the schools left out:

UCA could be a travel partner for ULM.

Jacksonville St, Kennesaw St, UNA, and EKU are all centrally located.

Then you’ve got Liberty, who would then have an FBS home after being previously excluded from C-USA and the SBC.

That’s not what I said, I said Central Arkansas is a better fit in the Summt than the ASUN. How is Central Arkansas similar to Stetson, Jacksonville, North Florida, and Florida Gulf Coast?

That's the one I have trouble wrapping my head around. EKU/JSU wanting to play football with UNA/KSU makes sense. But what's in it for UCA to leave a LA/TX league?

That is what you said. “Fit”. Arkansas is considered the South and those are southern schools. While not a private school, the people and cities have more in common than the schools in the Summit.
