RE: Clark moving up?
He’s definitely looking for another job. National writers put his name in lists, but beat writers say he was never considered.

Absolutely correct. Bammer's are a bunch that think anything besides a National Championship is a terrible, awful, horrendous season that should be blotted from memory.

Even our most pessimistic fans aren't even in the same universe as those people.

But there is nothing wrong with stating the shortcomings of the program, to ignore them and be content that we are no longer a laughing stock will lead to a plateauing at this level. Everyone agrees that we are much better off today, but that doesn't mean we are through climbing the ranks. To get to the top, to become the next Boise State as Coach Clark continues to say we can become, you have to 1) strive to gather the best staff possible and 2) put your best efforts in winning each and every game, both conference and non-conference. You simply cannot take weeks "off" against a non-conference opponent, because "we have bigger things to play for (i.e. a conference championship) as was the excuse given after the embarrassing effort in Knoxville last season. Each and every game counts in the perception of the program.

We're not to that Boise State level yet and until the program takes those two points to heart, we're not getting there anytime soon.

And none of that means that I am unhappy with where the program is now. It just means that I believe in the potential of the program and would like to see continued improvement until we reach the best we can be as a non-power 5 program.

This thread is about Clark potentially getting offered another job, correct? The flaws in Clark’s coaching have been pointed out on this board repeatedly. To me, those flaws don’t necessarily take him out of the running for a big time job. He took over an absolute dumpster fire and turned it into something. There is a lot to be said for that, and I could definitely see why an AD might look his way over former P5 head coaches or NFL assistants.

I don’t expect he will be the hottest name on the market, but I do expect that he will be a name that is looked at. That is all I was getting at.

Look at Jax State too, and high school...he is a winner. Are we a perfect team, no. Are we a terrible team, no. Are we talented, heck yeah. Are we still getting better players than we have in the past, heck yeah. Are we worried about penalties and control of emotions from team, yeah. Are we better off right now then when he walked in the door? ABSOLUTLEY

There is more work to do at UAB, we can get better, we have things to fix....but do you really want to drive this coach away and get another McGee??? Quit acting like Bammers

RE: Clark moving up?
Nobody is talking about running Coach Clark off. Griping about some things that need fixing is standard fan behavior, not crazy unrealistic expectations or pushing for a coaching change, except for maybe OC/QB coach.

Nobody in their right mind is running him off or acting like bammers, you're overreacting.

There are very VALID points being made about where the program is at the moment, that is all. I think we are mostly all very happy with where we are, but want to see changes made to continue our upward trajectory.

Seems like a good time to post this. Pulled it off the Save UAB Football FB site a while back. This young lady put it quite well:

I’m just going to say this once, reporting posts that you disagree with only looks bad on you. A lot of discourse going on about yesterday. Just because you disagree with someone criticizing the team does not make it harassment, lol. If you build a habit of reporting perfectly fine posts, that may be a conversation to be had between you and an admin or moderator. We are not here to censor posts you don’t want to see. Let’s be adults.
Criticism is part of football. If it gets out of hand and people start calling each other names or threatening each other or staff/players, absolutely report it. But please do not report every single post you see saying anything bad about the team. I’m not here to censor opinions you don’t like

Clark is not a hot commodity like he was two years ago. That beat down in the 2019 CUSA CG did not do him any favors from positive publicity perspective. And no wins or even a decent performance against a P5 program isn't helping his resume either. And UAB isn't dominating CUSA like was expected to happen this season.

This all works in favor of UAB not losing Clark in the foreseeable future.

I agree. We look like a team that has mostly beaten up on awful competition, but not really shown much outside of that. This year we continued that trend, but lost a couple of games we shouldn’t have due to continuing our chronic myriad of issues that shoot us in the foot every game. Thus, his stock has dropped a little..

I still think Clark is a very good coach, loyal, and a good program leader. I have full faith he’ll continue us on our upward ascension as a program. However, there are glaringly obvious changes that need to be made. If we keep on with the status quo to enter next season, I’ll be quite disappointed.

Disagree. We aren't really recruiting any better than we did before the shutdown. I actually think the 2014 team was more talented than any since the Return. There were certainly more NFL caliber players on that team.
