marshal is testing the football team, but the trainers assume that the tests are instant results. When no result shows, the trainers assume a negative test and toss the swab into a creek.

cusa needs to look into this.

Drove by the creek today and threw a few beer bottles in the creek, Corona's. 05-stirthepot 04-cheers

Is every other CUSA team taking the same stringent standards that Doc Holiday and the Marshall athletic program have laid out?

I know people have criticized and said that it's easier on Marshall, because Huntington is more rural, but this virus has spiked everywhere, not just metro areas.

Yeah we are able to separate, distance, and keep things under control. We have played games with covid or quarantined players out, and because we have multiple small groups practicing, many layers of testing, and reduced travel for players, we've been able to keep it under wraps.

So my question is, is every other CUSA team holding the same tough standards?

I don’t know if this has anything to do with anything, but the state of NC and the state of NC’s school have set in place an incredibly stringent set of protocols. From what I understand, CUSA has done the same. Earlier in the season (and I don’t know about right now) kids were being quarantined for 14 days for being around someone that received a positive test (even if if proved to be a false positive or the person never tested positive again).

I absolutely think Charlotte is erring on the side of caution. I’m sure that there are more Charlotte fans in tha know than I.

Thank you. Just wanted to clear that up.

And yes, it sucks for all involved, but I alluded earlier, right or wrong, that Charlotte will have a hard time overcoming the "cancel strategies" position. I don't prescribe to that theory, so try to not lump all Marshall fans on the crazy train. We are all just rightly frustrated, and highly sensitive to any game right now, as they seem to be fragile, and we are in rare air in a special season.

If CUSA had set more clear forfeit rules in the first place, that may have helped. However, that ship is sailed.

I think we'll be lucky to play another conference game this year. We have Rice and FIU, it's all very fragile.

Hamrick needs to get on the horn with BYU. They are wanting to play a thanksgiving weekend game.

Even if we lose, the exposure from playing BYU will be bigger than any bowl game we get this year.

There is an assumption that BYU would want to play Marshall, maybe they don't. At #8 BYU is a virtual lock for an at-large bid for NY6 game and there is NO way BYU makes the playoffs. Lose to Marshall and they're in a lower tier bowl. That said Marshall looks to be only option for an 11/28 game.

It was posted on here that GW cancelled that game, not Charlotte. So Charlotte was ready to play that game, apparently.

What I need you guys to get through your skull is that we are playing whenever we can. The roster we were going to play GSU with was not even going to be competitive. Georgia State certainly wouldn't have been an easy win, but that's certainly a game we could have and should have competed in when healthy, but we were fully prepared to show up and get boat raced. They canceled. We are playing wherever we can. This has nothing to do with Marshall. Our problem is our contact tracing is wiping out entire position groups. That potentially is something that you guys are doing better than we are.

Edit: Additionally, our coach has a half a million dollar bonus that he is putting in substantial jeopardy with all these canceled games.

However, it is the right call not to spread covid of course. This virus appears to have hit southern urban areas slowly in the summar, rural areas hard in the early fall (lots of postponed games in September in those areas) and now hit urban areas hard via a second wave in November.

Has any team in the nation not had a game canceled or postponed?

What are the chances you guys knock of Coastal this weekend?

I'm surprised the line of CCU -5.5. At CCU that seems low, especially given the likelihood our QB2 getting the start with Thomas going down early in the 4th last week.

CCU will have the second best defense we've faced this year, but the best offense. They are disciplined (< 3 penalties/game), balanced offense that controls the TOP. My head says App isn't able to score enough to win this game as I don't see the defense holding CCU under 20 points.

CCU holds the edge in coaching as well, their play calling is more dynamic and that staff isn't likely to be around next year.

Would love to be surprised around 3PM Saturday.

I'm not sure if Coastal Carolinas offense is much better than Marshalls power offense.

And App State did a good job holding us down, that is your key to victory.

Getting back to this, somebody had mentioned about contract tracing wiping out entire position groups.

Are you all not practicing in separate waves? That should have been instituted from the very beginning.

If that is the case, yes, Charlotte has been doing it wrong from the beginning. And should be held accountable for their lack of preparation.

Christ...this Covid 19 has just made a mess of scheduled football to say the least. It's only Wednesday and the following 10 matchups have been cxld/postponed below. Whoever is left standing may end up being televised nationally instead of just being streamed (i.e ESPN3) or local and or secondary broadcasts ( Conference Networks or even ESPNU, ESPN2, etc.). This is nuts...hopefully not too many more are being affected.
