Yeah its not even close. There is the salary but there is the access to better media coverage, better bowls, the fanase infrastructure...etc. Mediocre P5s sell 35k to 45k season tickets. Most of those schools also spend three or four times what we do just on football. Its why when Houston took Herman over $3M he STILL left.

He's got the strong backing of Liberty's admin, he doesn't have a ton of pressure to win like an SEC school, he's getting paid more than money than some ACC/Big 12 schools even pay, he doesn't have to deal with a new spotlight on him about his past wrongdoings... he's got it made.

From my understanding, he negotiated his contract so that his buyout is essentially non existent. If you don't want to go anywhere, why would you structure it that way?

We have a lot to provide, stress free, a lot of money, easy to recruit, I just don’t think that’s enough to fight off a big time school like SC. If this were Vandy I’d like our chances. I think y’all are safe from this round.

Steve Sarkisian will get it IMHO. SEC teams love to hire Bama Coordinators.

Inside the Liberty circle it was the opposite. Essentially to give back to LU if he leaves.

USC is definitely a place where Napier might be interested, but the timing would be wrong right now. He has not achieved enough of his self-set goals at this point to pull him away from UL.

As someone whose team has gotten coaches gone 2x in as many years, if he finds himself on top of their wish list, he’s gone. It’s really that simple.

His goals at ULL don’t matter when they will quadruple or quintuple his salary overnight. Spare yourself the delusion. If they want him, he’s gone and there’s nothing ULL can do about it.

I would have thought after the last 2 years where Napier has turned down SEC jobs and all the quadruple salary, we would not be using this reason anymore, but here it is again.
We have said for a few years that money will not be the reason for coach Napier, and he has a short list of places he wanted to go, as it turns out he has turned down several jobs in the past.

That being said, Louisiana fans know this is a job Napier COULD BE interested in. The difference for me is the AD position. Napier is big on who he works for, and from my little digging the USC fans dont feel their current AD is on a list of top level AD's, to be nice. that maybe the only thing to stop Napier from taking this job IF offered.

are there any credible reports that Napier actually turned down SEC HC jobs? Not UL fans claiming it but actual sources.

I mean there were plenty of App fans who claimed SS would turn down ACC schools for love of his alma mater 03-lmfao

I'm pretty sure Napier has only turned down the MSU job. And I'm not sure I even believe that, because they went for the big name hire they got in Leach.

Also, SC is a much better job than MSU.

I don't even believe the MSU. I'm sure the links provided will be full of ambiguity and innuendo that are just code for I interviewed but they ultimately went in a different direction. I mean, as good as Napier has been, what SEC school is taking him over Leach?

Why would Napier risk a guaranteed $16 MM angling for a "shortlist" setup. He has a lot of momentum now, but what if the wheels fall off and he has to start over? If he loses momentum he might end up back as an OC in the SEC or worse, HC at Furman. which wouldn't be the end of the world, hes certainly young enough to recover, but what logical person turns down the guaranteed $16 MM.

Well, lets remember what this discussion is about, that a coach if offered big money is gone no matter what. Napier turned down MSU, I cant help if you not sure if you fully believe it, but if I want to help you out, I guess MSU is the only solid job offer with numbers on the table he has turned down. there are others he simple removed his name before full offers came in, so i guess we can not count those.

I can’t believe how many App people though SS would stay. I was arguing with fans that were like “but he LOVES Boone!!!”

Louisville pays him enough that he can buy Boone. And good for him, I knew he was going and he absolutely should have.

When Chadwell or Napier get the call and USC offers them enough money to put their great great grandchildren through college, they will go. There’s no loyalty in college football. If either had 1-2 losing seasons, fans would want them fired. Go get get your bag Chadwell!

I haven’t seen one single Coastal fan say that Chadwell would stay if offered.

We all know what would happen.

i love boone too, but i would take 3.5 MM to live in Louisville all day. Now if i had to pick between 3.5 @ Louisville or 4 MM to live in MIssissippi i'm in louisville.

If he loses momentum he might end up back as an OC in the SEC or worse, HC at Furman. which wouldn't be the end of the world, hes certainly young enough to recover, but what logical person turns down the guaranteed $16 MM.

you really could search for this on your own, instead of throwing out uniformed personal guesses.

Brett Mcmurphy is well respected, so maybe this is true. However, i find it interesting that the SI article doesn't metnion him turning down Miss St, only that Baylor having issues was a "turnoff".

the only point i and other Louisiana fans am making is that Napier was never about only looking for a big payday and jumping on first chance because of it. his actions prove it. Ole Miss had interest and if he only wanted the money he would have interviewed regardless of his game. he doesnt remove his name from MSU if he only about the money. Its widely known he has a short list, he will leave one day, could be this year, but it is/was never going to be just because they can quadruple his salary. At the same time, When the day comes and he leave he will get a big raise in his salary, thats a given.

Is this what App fans sounded like when we were sure Satterfield didn’t want more money?

Isnt Billy a jimmy sexton client? There’s one reason you hire Sexton. And that’s to get the bag.
