RE: The carrousel is beginning to turn.
SC officials want to make that “big splash” hire ie:Freeze so the big fish donators will continue to throw millions into the program, but if they actually want to build a program that is competitive with the Georgias of the world Chadwell or Napier makes a lot more sense.

It's the gamecocks. They'll hire Sarkisian. He's on their list anyway.

USC is definitely a place where Napier might be interested, but the timing would be wrong right now. He has not achieved enough of his self-set goals at this point to pull him away from UL.

As someone whose team has gotten coaches gone 2x in as many years, if he finds himself on top of their wish list, he’s gone. It’s really that simple.

His goals at ULL don’t matter when they will quadruple or quintuple his salary overnight. Spare yourself the delusion. If they want him, he’s gone and there’s nothing ULL can do about it.

Jamey Chadwell is probably at the top of their list. Fingers crossed.

Oh, and he won’t hesitate even slightly to take his hotshot QB with 4 years of eligibility left.

I think Freeze realizes he has it pretty good right now.

He's got the strong backing of Liberty's admin, he doesn't have a ton of pressure to win like an SEC school, he's getting paid more than money than some ACC/Big 12 schools even pay, he doesn't have to deal with a new spotlight on him about his past wrongdoings... he's got it made.

Yep, likely why he signed yet another extension. I’ll add:
Major P5 like facilities, all new, all the time
No SEC type slimy boosters to have to kiss ass to
Big time AD (vs a baseball coach at SC)
Potential to be the best program in his state (ain’t beating Clemson)
Scheduling freedom (don’t have to play Bama/LSU/Georgia every year)

I’m seeing some things on Twitter indicating USC has already made contact with Chadwell.

Funny thing is that is almost word for word what people were saying when he was offered the job at moo st a couple years ago.

Look there is no ‘delusion’ among UL fans. At best we will keep BN a year or two more. Everyone knows and accepts this as fact. Will it be now? Quite possible, but I just don’t see it. I mean, first they have to offer it to him.

So stop with that delusion nonsense. You know now not what you speak of.

RE: The carrousel is beginning to turn.
To be clear, if SCar offers Chadwell, I’m quite positive he will take it and not look back. There is absolutely zero doubt about that, and I don’t think any Coastal fan would deny it.

As to whether or not he gets the offer or not, I am way more skeptical. I’d be surprised if they offered him the job, but not completely flabbergasted. Doesn’t seem like Jamey has a long enough track record at Coastal to warrant an SEC head coach offer. We are talking about 0.75 successful seasons so far at the FBS level. I just don’t see it.

As for taking McCall with him, that’s kind of silly to even speculate at this point. Jamey isn’t going to “take McCall”...McCall will make his own decision. In the hypothetical situation that Chadwell leaves, It is extremely reasonable to suspect that McCall could evaluate his situation where he is happy at the school he’s at, enjoys his friends and teammates, loves his environment, and decides that his prospects to play at the next level aren’t any better by transferring to SCar. I could very easily see him deciding to stay at Coastal.

Serious question for anyone suggesting McCall would leave Coastal in a heartbeat...have you ever been to Columbia, SC? Have you been to SCar’s campus? I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s one of the biggest dumps you’ll ever visit.

RE: The carrousel is beginning to turn.
I think Chadwell would be a good pick for USC but they are currently trying to put out a raging fire. I think they pick a current/former P5 coach with some star power over Chadwell to generate some buzz and quiet down their donors. Chadwell doesn't have the consistency or the hardware yet to be an attractive option. He needs to pull a Satterfield.

That part made me chuckle. No matter what program you're with, you end up with slimy boosters to kiss. Hiding behind the mantle of a "Christian" university doesn't change that fact.

SEC vs SBC. 80k fans in the stadium vs 15k. P5 vs G5.

SEC vs SBC. 80k fans in the stadium vs 15k. P5 vs G5.

And that very well may sway him. But that doesn’t sway every kid.

He has just as much of an opportunity to play at the next level by staying at Coastal as he does by transferring to SCar.

There is A LOT that goes into a kid’s decision about where to go to school. The size of a football stadium is not the deciding factor for every kid. It’s not as simple as you’re making it. That’s all I’m saying.

Now for Chadwell, that’s a lot more black and white. The salary difference would be enormous. There is no question about what he’d do if offered the job.

He came to coastal because he was a 2 star. Now hes playing like a high three or low four star. P5 transfers happen all the time.

It's funny to be on the outside looking in for these discussions. We have been through it several times with Fritz and Monken (and to an extent with PJ back in 2001) and we had the True Blue guys saying that they would never leave. But guess what.....they did. And they left for a whole lot less than the SEC money we are talking about for the SC position.

If offered, they are gone. Plain and simple.

I doubt there was anyone who was as True Blue as Monken, or as Black and Gold as Satterfield. Both of them left for the $$.

Looks like Freeze is their top target. I doubt we’d keep him if they offer. We have a lot to provide, stress free, a lot of money, easy to recruit, I just don’t think that’s enough to fight off a big time school like SC. If this were Vandy I’d like our chances. I think y’all are safe from this round.
