For the West!!
Rice wins their next 3 to sit at 4-1
UAB beats USM putting them at 3-1
(UAB does have an opening 12/5 so they could be 4-1 as well if there is a CUSA team added for that date)
UAB @ Rice on 12/12 (already scheduled) for the West Division???
*Rice cancels the game and is named West Division champs, of course. I didn’t even consider this when posting but if Rice has a COVID outbreak for the 12/12 date, they would win the West by the strategy of canceling the deciding game...which would be so 2020

RE: For the West!!
Lots of scenarios could still happen, but one that *might* be a bit more likely is that Rice does manage to play North Texas and UTEP in the next 2 weeks, winning both, and is sitting at 3-1. Meanwhile, Marshall has locked up the East. So instead of Rice making the trip to Marshall, UAB could play at Rice on December 5? Then C-USA could reschedule on December 12 whichever of Rice-Louisiana Tech or UTSA-Rice is more meaningful. It could be an all around win if this freed up Marshall to schedule another OOC game like BYU.
But first the North Texas game needs to happen and Rice needs to win it.

Rice has had as many conference games cancelled on them (UTSA, La Tech) as they have had on others (Marshall, UAB). This narrative that we are dropping out of games seems a bit much - especially when you see how many games are not happening on a national level.
And Rice is not beating Marshall on the road on Dec. 5th.

Subtract .5 from the win column for each game canceled by the canceling team.

Not really, because those games "cancelled" on Rice were for legitimate covid spread within teams. Whereas Rice cancelled games with no such issues within it's program, nor within the programs it was cancelling upon.
My opinion is those two games should be forfeits as they would have been under Big XII rules. The only reason they aren't is because of this joke of a conference that we are all stuck together in, can't be decisive or proactive in any regards.

There is a difference between canceled and postponed/rescheduled.
Losers will cry and point fingers.
