Exclamation Rice @ UNT
ESPN is giving the Owls a 67.7% chance of winning the game vs. UNT. No consensus point spread yet. Maybe they should just post a % chance of the game being played as scheduled? I'd give it about a 40% chance.

The team stats show the Mean Green with the more prolific offense, averaging 593 yds per game and 39.2 pts per game vs. the Owls 418.5 yds per game and 32.0 pts per game. However, the Eagles defense appears to be much more porous, allowing 549.4 yds per game and 44.2 pts per game vs. the Owls 360.0 yds per game and 23.0 pts per game. Again, these data are based on only 2 games for the Owls vs. 5 for the Mean Green.

ESPN’s opening consensus pick shows UNT as 2.5 point favorites, but the Owls still with a 67.7% chance of winning. Do they even read what they post?

Oh yeah ... it’s CUSA and they don’t care.

Well that didn’t last long. In a matter of hours, ESPN’s consensus pick goes from UNT as a 2.5 favorite to the Owls as a 1 point favorite. At least that is consistent with the Owls having a 67.7% chance of winning.

Wow! Already Tuesday night and North Texas has not postponed or cancelled! Maybe, Rice will actually get to play another game!

And another chance to bring down that DPG (doinks per game) average!

It going up after the next game would be a very 2020 occurrence though.

ESPN’s spread consensus pick has gone back the other way, now (Thursday) showing UNT -1.0 (66%). ESPN still giving the Owls a 67.7% chance of winning.

Maybe someone who is more skilled in the art can explain the details of the spread consensus pick?

I'm pretty certain that the spread consensus pick is where the public betting money is going. The ESPN rating is where they use their proprietary rating system to determine who is favored. That's why it can diverge like that, especially in a low-betting-traction game like in CUSA. Seriously - is there even 5-figure-total betting likely on the game?

Most of the betting will be coming from the alumni.

What's the closest to game time an NCAA game has been cancelled/postponed this fall? Sure would be nice to see some Rice football this weekend, even though I still have my doubts.
