AAC games that matter for AAC Champ game
Since SMU has lost 2 and we beat them there games do not matter.

Tulsa is 4-0 and plays Tulane, UH and UC. The Navy game cannot be made up because of Army - Navy

UCF is 4-2 and plays UC and USF

UC is 5-0 and plays UCF, Temple and Tulsa

It’ll be interesting when we play Tulsa twice to end the year.

I think Tulsa has a puncher's chance of cracking the top 25 before year end in both polls. Tulane and at Houston will not be gimme's as both can score the ball. Cats have to focus on winning at Ucf first and foremost, but i'd like that Tulsa game to be as big as possible. More chance to improve resume. Go for as many marbles as possible.

After watching the Mustangs play both, any thoughts?

Darn SMU if they would have won we would hold the tiebreaker against them for home team in the AAC Championship game in the event we falter in one of our remaining games. Now the site of the Championship will in all probability come down to the winner of our game vs Tulsa even after we take care of business at UCF and Temple. I expect Tulsa will win at home against Tulane; maybe lose at Houston but I expect to be tied with Tulsa or have a one game lead going into that final game.

My question would be how the fact that their game with Navy was cancelled will effect things. We might actually have a game and half lead due to our extra win so we would still win home field advantage for the championship game even if we lost at Tulsa.

We played a terrible game against Cincy. But Tulsa’s defense stopped our offense. All in all, this proves that defense wins championships. Of course Cincy has a good defense too. It will be an interesting matchup.

You wanna know the scary part? Our offense is getting better as the season has gone along. It is catching up to the defense. Consider FBS rankings...

40 Memphis
59 Tulsa
71 ECU
99 Temple
103 Navy
108 USF

Scoring Defense
3 Cincinnati
27 Tulsa
56 Tulane
59 SMU
60 UCF
81 Houston
96 Memphis
105 Navy
108 USF
114 Temple

Know which ones matter ? UC/UCF, UC/Temple, UC/Tulsa. Take care of those and we're in good shape. Also, take care of those and we shouldn't have to worry about who we play in the championship game. Not arguing that other games don't have some bearing on the season but the conference is UC's to lose as long as they focus and take care of their own business. I don't think this coaching staff will allow them to get distracted. They also need to continue to stay healthy. Off the field, I get the impression the team leaders are taking care of that. On the field, there has to be some luck, along with good technique and conditioning. We are good with the latter two...Ponder aside, I just hope the luck piece continues going UC's way.

Bolded, we all do. A good post that sums up the situation in simple terms.

While I don't believe in luck, the ball can certainly take the right bounce on many occasions: off the turf, off an opposing player, or into the hands of a Bearcat defender or receiver.

Aren't the odds ever increasing that a team with Cincinnati on its jerseys could win some kind of championship in this century? We're already 20 years into the 21st with no hardware in MLB, MLS, the NFL or NCAA football or basketball. No better time and no better team than this edition of the Bearcats.

There's no more important game than the one up next on the schedule each week. You can't change the past but you can try to control the future. The staff and players have been great focusing on each game thus far.

There would be nothing like ESPN putting up their graphic of UCF having a 60% chance to win, then the Bearcats stomping them.

Then UCF quickly turns into a mediocre, middling, run-of-the-mill, 3-loss, average AAC team in the eyes of the media.. the narrative is old. Florida will struggle with Vandy but because Vandy is SEC, Florida's struggling win will be perceived as good.

Because they are conference foes.

To muddy the waters a little more in the AAC, Houston vs. SMU, scheduled for Saturday, has now been postponed.

Well, there goes any chance of SMU playing in the CCG.

They could make up that game still. I think both are open on 12/12.

It appeared from the information on the AAC board that SMU was the reason for the postponement, so they'll probably have to make up two.
