I doubt you guys (App) will have the same miscues. Our defense is obviously virtually the same as yours. The defense will keep you in the game, but I think your offense is more apt to make forward progress than ours so I have no reason to think Appy isn't going to put up a fight and have a solid chance of winning.

It is at least worth mentioning that we put up 28 on you guys with our backup QB who is significantly less effective in every aspect of the game than McCall is.

Seems like people forget that important part of the story when the GS game is referenced.

Yeah the GS game is irrelevant, huge difference in personnel.

To make matters worse App is likely with our QB1 at less than 100% or a backup with not much meaningful game experience.

Part of me says the oline performs better with the backup in, just human nature.

Cooper Hodges is back this week. Arguably more important than ZT vs Huesman. We weren't just missing him last Saturday, we shifted two players around on the O-line just to plug the holes where needed.

I was referring to defense. Everybody knows our offense is completely different than pretty much everybody

Me too, your defense was playing a step down in QB play.

I did fail to elaborate. I guess the gist of my point was that CCU averages 41 points a game, which is obviously pretty good. We held them to 28, regardless of their heralded QB. Statistically, there is an 90% chance or so of victory if you score more than 30 points. Our offense does not, but yours does. I was just pointing out that all else remaining equal, there's no reason why you can't hold them to 28 while scoring more than that.

The point being missed is this ^^. You can’t say that above.

You do realize the difference in our QBs, right? Without McCall, most of us went from expecting an easy win (sorry but we knew we would outscore your O the way Werts was playing), to biting our nails, because we’d seen enough of Payton previously. Halved our offensive output in our minds, EASILY. If your premise is gonna be “If App St can score 28 they have a chance, because you did...” that’s flawed, because 28 was no where near the target you’d have been shooting for WITH McCall. It’d have been more like 45.

Elaborating is only furthering my confusion with any correlation between the GS game and the game that will be played this weekend...

RE: App State @ Coastal Carolina
The point stingingeagle is making, is we both run essentially the same defense, with roughly the same talent level, with GSU defensive front alittle better than APPS but APP’s secondary better than GSU, and no offense to the starting qb for CCU, but right now our defense is playing at a high level, not concerned with them giving up 40, odds are really good that won’t happen, I think realistically we can keep you in the low 30s to mid 20s, but the question is, what does the APP’s offense do? Again, open up the playbook, or atleast try and we have a real chance to put some points on the board, play conservative, aka our normal offense, and I’m not sure we even get to the low 20s.

There is no comparing the two QBs, this is a wasted discussion.

If App holds CCU at full strength to under 25 that will be a much better showing than what GS did a few weeks ago.

Maybe I'm just shellshocked from never beating the Mountaineers, but if Zach T. is playing, I figure Boone will be celebrating Saturday.

Really looking forward to watching this game. It should be outstanding. Two very relevant teams squaring off with national implications. It’s a great position for the Sun Belt to be in. Hope it’s an exciting game.

Considering the implications for a spot in the championship game, this game sure hasn't had much back and forth with fanbases this week. 03-zzz

App fans are soured by the offensive showing last week.

CCU fans are hopeful, yet extremely cautious as they've never beaten the Mountaineers.

I imagine they live up to their mascot should they win.

Honestly, I think that’s because both fan bases fear being too cocky about this game.

We Coastal fans have a certain level of respect for App’s program. We’ve never beaten them. Would be tacky for us to go into this game chest thumping.

I think we will win. I think we have the better team this year. But App is still App, and as much as I’m sure GS fans hate to hear it, that fact alone means something.

Let them play that game with their starting QB, and let us play that game with our all-conference safety (I'd argue the best safety in the league) as well as our sack leader from 2019 not missing most of the game, I bet the outcome is about the same.

Besides, it's not like Coastal is a passing team. They are a running team and are 14th nationally in percentage of plays that are running plays.

My gut says 28-24 Coastal but my heart says 46-10 Coastal. If we get the same team that played GA State my heart will be happy.

I wish it was possible for me to be at the game. My wife was living in Conway when I met her. Haven't been back in a few years. Somebody eat something awesome at Riverside Bistro and say hello to Conway for me. Games like this one is a good time to be a football fan.

But when a QB is not a passing threat AT ALL as is the case with our backup, Payton, then you just key in on the run all game.

The fact that McCall can beat a team with his arm if he has to is what opens up the run game.

You guys got to play an entire game against us where all you really had to defend against was the run. We were completely one dimensional for all intents and purposes.

It’s really just kind of ridiculous that GS fans point to a game where we beat them by 14 points with our backup QB as some sort of indication of any future outcomes on our schedule.

This is the biggest game in Coastal’s short history, to APP it’s just the next game, I think we handle our emotions better than CCU, we know what to expect, guts says APP 35 CCU 24, heart says APP 38 CCU 20
