RE: App State @ Coastal Carolina
All I know is what I see on TV and I know I've been wrong more than correct on predicting games. That said, I think Coastal is going to humble App in this game. App has too many injuries and a new coaching staff. Coastal has all the confidence and they're playing with a chip on their shoulder. Which means I just gave them the kiss of death and App will win. Either way, it will be fun to watch.

I know I'll probably catch flak from App fans from saying this, but I'll say it anyways. Your offense is just not as balanced as a lot your fans think it is. If the running game isn't working you're not going to throw the ball for 250 yards and be able to lean on the passing game. We saw that against Georgia Southern twice, against Marshall, and now against Georgia State who also has a top rushing defense in the league. I'm not saying App hasn't been a good offense, but it's just not going to have the same punch with no Evans, no Williams, and no Harrington.
The good news for you (IMO) is that you had a letdown at the perfect time and I think you'll rally together and win this one in a 20-17 type score. I think App has the most complete defense in the league and can stop Grayson McCall throwing the ball.
I don’t think you’ll find an App fan that believes we have a balanced offense. Or an offense at all for that matter.
I'd say we have "an offense at all". Guess I'm no fan.
Are you sure you’ve been watching App State?
What about this years offense do you like? That we do well? Honest question.
9th in rushing yards. 32.143 pts per game vs the opponents 16.857.
Defense didn't score all of those points.

Coastal, is speakeasy tailgating allowed? Are beers served during the games? Might need alcohol for this one.

Trout why did App only score 17 against a team allowing 38 ppg?
Injuries - some portion
Game planning - some portion
Lack of adjustments - > some portion

Tailgating is allowed, but no tents this year. Beer is sold in the stadium, prices aren’t horrible for a stadium, but still high.

Tailgating is allowed. They had beer last season but not sure about this year.
A fan guide is available here with more detail:
https://goccusports.com/documents/2020/9...df?id=8664
Take a look at the parking map in the fan guide too - it should help you find open, public parking lots as well as shuttle stops if you don't want to walk to / from the stadium.
Post if you have any other questions.

Really we aren't balanced by design. Since Satterfield came in we've consistently run 60% of the time, even last year with Drink. I do agree that our offense this year is lacking in the passing game, but I don't think we can group the past two years against Southern in. In 2018 we had a freshman who is currently a backup at Wofford play most of the game, and last year nobody was going to throw much in 40+ mph winds.
This year we're seeing a combination of issues. Not having Sutton is really showing up especially with Hennigan not even being close to 100%. Virgil has also missed half the games this year. We came into the year thinking we were set with 4 seniors, but instead Malik Williams is the only one to play the entire season.
The TE room has been a revolving door of injuries, and our best OL missed most of the second half against Texas State and all of GSU. We really need him back as Zac has had little time to throw in his absence.

I’m worried about this game.
I don’t care how good we’ve been or how vulnerable App may seem.
This is a program we’ve never beaten. They deserve our respect until we can get over that hurdle.
I think we can, but I’m not cocky about this game at all.

Have no idea what will happen on Saturday but hope it’s a good game with no injuries for either side. Much respect for what y’all have built down there.

I wish this game werent the same time at the GS-Army game because I think it will be a really good one to watch. I expect it to be a somewhat of a defensive game as the teams feel each other out. Coaching adjustments will be the key and the second half will see the offenses open up and pour on the points.

Not sure humbled is the right word. We all know we're not playing as well as we'd like, and we all know CCU (all 4 teams left to play) is good enough to beat us. Our defense has to play another great game for us to win.

This is the first game since the 2017 Dollar General Bowl against Toledo where App has been an underdog in Vegas against a G5 team.

Here's my pie in the sky wishful thinking scenario..... Coastal loses to Appy, then loses to Troy. Appy beats Coastal, but loses to GS and UL. GS wins out. GS, Appy, and Coastal all end up 6-2 in the conference and all have a loss to each other so no true head to head winner. Coastal has 2 East losses, Appy and GS have 1, but GS wins the head to head tie breaker against Appy and plays UL in the CCG.
Not going to happen, but sure is fun to dream huh?

RE: App State @ Coastal Carolina
App just lacks the explosive downfield passing game and the explosive big play rushing ability that Evans brought to the team in the past. Combination of injuries at WR and TE, and some unimaginative play calling has been an issue. App must depend on the defense to play lights out again and hope the offense finds some openings. As with any game, turnovers could change everything and App has been a little fumble and turnover prone this season unlike previous years.
App has shown the ability to rise up in big games the last few years and we'll see how they do on the road at a very balanced CCU team. Many being the underdog will work for them.

This wishful thinking sounds like the same kinda thing where the only path to the White House is through the courts. Not going to happen...I feel it's Coastal's year to shine.

It doesn't matter which QB plays. We have no shot as long as Tony Peterson is OC. Frankly, the fact that CCU opened at merely -4 might be a once in a season line. Empty the kid's college account.

Like I said before, not sure Tony’s hands aren’t tied, Moore taught SS, and now Clark, that you run the ball on first and second downs, no matter what the defense is showing, and when we pass it’s safe, nothing over the middle of the field. I just wonder if Clark made it clear to Tony that’s the way things are done in Boone.

Moore taught SS offensive play calling?
Moore may have taught SS lots of things but play calling isn't one of those.
