49.9% of the country is fully vaccinated. African Americans make up roughly 13% of the population. That math means it’s a lot more than African Americans not getting the shot.

Screw that. I've been patient. I've been considerate. I wore my mask, and I never jumped anyone and gave them **** if they didn't. I've been considerate and held my tongue as people I knew were smarter than that spewed their stuff.

I'm kinda done with that. We had this thing whipped, things were getting better. Shots were going in arms, numbers were falling. Then the momentum dropped. It is my personal opinion that much of that was politically driven by the people who wanted to prevent Biden from making the July 4th goal he put out there, and much of the rest by cynical commentators who were fearmongering and profiting on it.

That really no longer matters. There are plenty of Dems who have not gotten the vax. Most of the truly loony anti-vaxxers are Dems, to include Robert Kennedy, Jr., who was one of the 12 recently permabanned by Twitter for spreading misinformation. Lord knows that there are plenty of R's.

I don't care. If you have a legit, honest and for real medical condition that makes it hazardous, you get a bye. If you don't, you should get the jab. If you don't, well, I have zero sympathy any more. R, D, I, agnostic and apolitical, if you get it and die, or give it to your grandma or your kid, it was self inflicted. You're being offered a vax (For FREE!) that has proved to be 97 to 99% effective at keeping you out of the hospital with the worst effects of Covid. If I offered a football bet where you had a 97% chance to win I'd have to get a bank loan to cover all the bets.

I'm not a race hater, never have been. I respect Black people. I grew up in southwest Atlanta. You damn well better get along with Black folks if you're gonna live there. That said, as a population you need to persuade your friends and relatives to turn loose of the Tuskeegee Study and protect yourselves. The front of the line to get these vaccines were rich white people. That should tell you right there where it is.

As to Trump voters, I'll offer you this: Go find a map of the last election with the vote percentages. Then get a current map of vax percentage by state, and compare the two. I think you'll see that it runs very close. Don't let a politician who does not know or give a damn about you make a life or death decision for you. Think for yourself.

A lot of this is because of politics and politicians making what should be about science and medicine into a political statement. Combine that with "You can't tell me what to do." and you get where Alabama is positioned today. I don't care if you are the hardest Trump guy in the state, I'm asking, begging you to get the shot to protect yourself and to protect your family and the people who love you.


I'm sorry if I get shrill on this here lately. Anyone I lock horns with, it's not personal. I've just been too close to this for too long. My borther-in-law died of it. My wife's sister was on a vent for seven weeks. My little brother is a respiratory therapist in a hospital and has risked his life working on Covid patients every work day since this thing started. I thought we were turning the corner and then things went all to hell fast, and I'm really damn frustrated.

The first step that should be done to build back trust of the unvaccinated is that those from the cdc all the way down to a county health system should stop lying to us.

It’s so you don’t get deathly ill. I don’t understand why this is so complicated. There are facts upon facts showing those with the vaccine are not the ones getting a tube shoved down their throat and dying. If you choose to ignore them, that’s on you.

Polio was wiped out because people got vaccinated. Kids were lining up in school gymnasiums and getting the shot back then. I’m sure that vaccine didn’t have decades of research behind it either.

Honestly, I give up at this point. This thing was made political for absolutely no reason, and lines have been drawn in the sand. If you believe some shot that some of our best and brightest minds helped create and have taken themselves is going to destroy you down the road, I can’t convince you otherwise.

A virus that has a 99+% survival rate. I had it... with a little fatigue and minor congestion for a week or so. But, my natural immune system did its job, and now I have a better immunity against it than those that were vaccinated. Sure, its killed tons of people, but so did the flu (that has essentially disappeared) but we didn't lose our minds over the flu and fall under house arrest.
My wife's employer is offering $1k to each employee for taking it. They're getting that subsidy from the Fed gov't. Thanks, but no thanks. I've taken every vaccine I should have for my 42 years on this earth including flu shots yearly. When I get bribed to take one....nope. And yes, I graduated from UAB and work in healthcare. I don't believe in most of the conspiracy theories, but I also know there's zero chance these vaccines were tested like they should have been. That's being done now with the general population. Research Tuskegee and try to talk people into trusting the gov't with vaccines.
I also know 7 people that were fully vaccinated that have tested positive. I also know people that were not vaccinated and have yet to get the virus.

Wait, you think me getting the vaccine stops me from transmitting the disease? Um, no. The only thing that stops me from giving the virus to others is for them/you getting the vaccine (according to the people who trust/believe in the vaccine). I’m not opposed to others getting it. I just chose not to myself.
Remember, me wearing a mask protects you, not me. So you getting the vaccine should also protect you, not me.
I could spread the flu by not washing my hands, and have gotten the flu shot. My flu shot did nothing to protect others. This is no different, other than it’s been politicized, monetized, and twisted into gains of power and control. Just wait until election season rolls around again… we’ll have “major outbreaks”, more racial divide, etc. I’m not saying the virus isn’t very real. It’s just been turned into a political and social weapon. I won’t be bribed or told that if I comply, I can have some of my freedom in return. I’ve read those stories, been to that museum, and seen those gold star patches.
Yes, I’ve lost friends to Covid, and some that should have died but survived, all while their spouse never contracted it, living in the same house. But I’ve also lost friends to cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, and even diabetes. Once there’s more data available for the vaccine, I’ll roll up my sleeve. Until then, no thanks.

There are vaccines to help prevent some forms of cancer and pneumonia, two of the ailments you listed. Are you against those as well?
