RE: Game Thread: Georgia State @ Appalachian State
Good win from a tough team. I think Thomas was/has been hurt for quite some time. The last time we visited Coastal, Heusman was QB. I still like our odds.

Yes, rib injury. Out three games so far. Still out, but "may" have played this weekend if the game hadn't been called off. I think we win both "georgia" games if he were still playing. Tough break for Troy.

Praying for Thomas. No word yet on his condition.
Shout out to the Georgia State defense. App run game got no push until late in the 4th. That deserves credit.

App played to Ga St strength, terrible game plan.
App has a top two defense but 6th best offense.

He is not the answer needs to be addressed. Clark may need to take over play calling.

Glad we ended up with Satterfield back in 2012 instead of Elliott.

Can we agree it was a good Coach Moore student vs a good Coach Moore student?

Crazy to think Moore had Scott Satterfield, Shawn Elliott, Mark Speir, and Brad Glenn on staff at once. That's 3 DI head coaches and maybe the best OC in the Sun Belt.

Ga St prepped well for the game and we played to their strength. When we tried going around the sides whether it be pass or run, there seem to be more room but no we keep running up the middle and it didn't work until the last series. Thank God for our killer defense. Huessman stepped in and looked clean and crisp, hope he is up for the challenge.

Just don’t know how many more injuries we can take on the offensive side of the ball, was feeling pretty good about the team 2 weeks ago, not so much now.

IDK, they started to open up a can after Thomas was taken out. If they can find that energy again next week we might be good.
FWIW, Ethan Joyce of the WSJ said Thomas had feeling in all his extremities and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, so that sounds promising.

What happened to him exactly? Missed the game and can't find any game footage.

Late hit out of bounds, pushed into some equipment.
Rumor is it’s his hip, didn’t move from the spot after the hit, on stretcher and ambulance during 4th quarter.

Prior to yesterday our offense was 21st in the nation in at 473 yards per game and 6.6 yards per play. I'd say Peterson is doing pretty darn good. He's having to work with a lot of missing parts to the puzzle, Our offense is really beat up, yet we managed to get a win over a highly motivated opponent who has proven to be very good against what we like to do. And oh by the way, just happens to be coached by someone who knows our offense & defense inside and out. TE is crucial to our offensive scheme, especially from a blocking perspective, and we are down to a starter who's missed more games than he's played and a 4th team walk-on. Our best OL was out which reshuffled the line breaking up the cohesiveness that is crucial to run a zone blocking scheme. The guy who replaced Hodges at LT was getting whipped to the point we had to dedicate a TE to help him, which even further limited what we do offensively. With Harrington out for the year we're down to a Sr who's been hurt most of the year, a talented but largely unproven (less than 100 carries in 3 years) Peoples who has been injured most of his career and a true freshman. Williams is the only experienced WR who is healthy. Hennigan continues to pay with a bad hamstring, Virgil has been hurt most of the year and we're playing two freshmen most of the time. These are not excuses, it's reality. At the end of the day we won the game. Survive, move on and try to find another way to win next week.

3 close games versus Louisiana, Ark State, App.
All losses.
Watching our QB make weird read or show indecisiveness makes me tilt. When he does throw, I see too many late passes when RPO requires precise timing. Then there are high throws that makes our receivers go wtf.
When the running game isnt carrying the offense, our QB doesnt know what to do like a deer in headlights.

Quad was 11/33...
...and we had only 38 rushing attempts.
Also , some Sunday morning research...
Rushing Attempts in Wins: 50, 56, 49
Rushing Attempts in Losses: 52*, 41, 28, 38
*Louisiana game

I don't want him or Mikele carrying the offense. Neither is Trevor Lawrence. Like I said yesterday before the game, I hope he is more point guard than shooting guard. I need him to distribute to the many many weapons on this roster. Also, the data is in. We need 50 rushing attempts per game. Period.

Petersen isn’t the problem. At least not from what I’ve seen. Execution is the problem. In our game, that 4th and one playcall was brilliant. Evans assed that up. As another poster stated, Apps offense was top 30.
