If these guys go out, they will:
Sanders
Hudson

So I'm thinking between 2-4...POSSIBLY 5 if someone takes a flyer on Coby

Seems about right for now, IMO. Since Seniors can Technically come back it also makes it hard. Coby, Darrick Forrest, and Doaks will likely get a shot in camp, but probabky as UDFA, unless they turn in a great combine performance. I hope Harper comes back since I think he could benefit most from an extra year.

I'm an optimist, but I think LB Darrien Beavers at 6-3 242# has a good shot at being drafted. He fits the NFL profile of being large enough and athletic enough to be drafted. He also has smarts and common sense because he left UConn at the right time. He has 7 career sacks (all at UConn) which is almost as many as Myjai Sanders 9 sacks. One interception at UC. Kick coverage is really important for NFL teams; usually the last three players on the roster are really good at special teams. The only UC LB in the NFL is Eric Wilson 6-1 230# and he has 7.5 sacks in the last 3 years. Beavers has the versatility to line up occasionally at rush end. One problem (its a good problem) is that every Bearcat defender is playing lights out defense. We found out this week that the 2nd string LBs are also really good.

Beavers isn't a guy you can put out on an NFL defense with how much of an issue he would have in coverage. Wilson was a converted safety and incredibly athletic, Beavers is a converted DE and not fast enough to play NFL linebacker. If he is drafted or makes a 53-man roster, I'll be shocked...none of that should diminish what he has done here though, he is an extremely solid College LB.

Just so happens there is an article from earlier today on Beavers on cincinnati.com

Darrian Beavers has developed into versatile leader for No. 7 Cincinnati's defense

Beavers was actually a safety at Colerain (also lettered in track and basketball with his 4.0 GPA) when Freeman was recruiting him and Freeman says he had him projected as a LB.

I'll let you guys pull out your own quotes, but it's more than worth the read. Freeman raves about his football intelligence, athleticism and leadership.

Then you may have caught the discussion about him during the broadcast tonight when they said he is talking to the coaches about coming back next year. I obviously didn't study him on every play but I thought he looked really good tonight against ECU in what was maybe his best game so far. I don't claim to know what's best for him, but I think he could really flourish if he did come back and I wouldn't rule out the NFL either way.

I would love for him to come back...I think another year playing LB would help tremendously in getting him a shot at a roster spot in the NFL.

Important note that he decided not to walk in the Senior Day ceremony last night. Only one reason you decline that opportunity...

Yea, definitely nice to have him to help keep the defense playing at a high level.

Any other Seniors not walk?

Cameron Young. Hard to replace 43.5 yards per carry.

Depends upon what they want to do with their life and the roster/scholarship situation. But it's not like most of our seniors are likely to get worse if they come back. Harper is a guy who jumps out as one who could get a lot better with another year playing here.

AMAZING!

Draftsite.com has a mock NFL draft on the internet.
https://www.draftsite.com/nfl/mock-draft/2021/

Wiggins is in the 3rd round.

Forrest is in the 7th round.

Des Ridder is in the 7th round going to Miami,
one of 13 QB projected to be drafted.
But Miami has a QB in Tua!

Agree, Harper is one that seems like a prime example that would help the team while also help him potentially get a shot at the next level.

I think Tua is a great QB but if I'm Miami, I'm not counting on him being available 16 games a season. He is tiny and not shifty like Kyler Murray and has already shown to be pretty injury prone. With that being said, I think Dez comes back. There is more money in being a Cincinnati sports legend than leaving a year early to be a practice squad QB for a year. He could sell insurance, cars, financial planning, etc and make a fortune locally.

I'm guessing he is a pretty smart kid also. St. X in Louisville is a really good high school. The gobearcats website no longer lists majors that I could find but hopefully its not criminal justice.

Yeah, not a good site. It includes 2022 projections, and Hudson and Myjai are missing there as well. Oops.

The site entertains and you can create your own draft picks. (It looks like someone already made up a unique creation, a one of a kind draft.)
If I could predict an NFL draft, I would be working for the Bengals.
The good thing about the Bearcats DB (besides being entertaining) is that they are really aggressive in man coverage, they intercept balls, and they all have NFL height, speed, and work ethic. These are the qualities that all NFL teams look for and pay for in CB, DBs. And Wiggins and Forrest are not afraid of contact. A good CB, S like Wiggins is worth a lot more than a good RB like Truck Warren. Go figure!

Sports administration per this article. He's due to graduate next month and is having a kid soon, so it's certainly plausible he doesn't come back next year whether or not he gets drafted.

2 Seniors:
Wiggins
Ponder

If these guys go out, they will:
Sanders
Hudson

So I'm thinking between 2-4...POSSIBLY 5 if someone takes a flyer on Coby

You think Hudson's gone after this season?

I think it’s hard to project just now. Normally OL prospects have multiple years of tape available and Hudson will only have about 12 games of tape. Honestly, I think he would be better served to return as I think he could significantly improve his stock with another year. That said, it’s easy for me to say that since I’m not actually turning down millions.

Agree on all points. I think he has all the raw, athletic ability, but could use another year to polish his technique a bit. But you're right - the money can be tempting.

gobearcats lists Hudson at 6'5" and 310 lbs. i need to get my eyes checked because i would have never guessed 300+, especially given the way he moves. With all respect to Coach Crook and the rest of the staff, i don't know if he'll learn more here then if he went pro. On top of that, he is playing really well. Save for the rare presnap penalty, he rarely racks up penalties (honestly, i'm surprised he hasn't gotten more unsportsmanlike penalties with all the shite taliking he does, which i fully endorse btw). And in those cases where he does get noticed they are highlights. The offense is rolling and he's a big part of that. He's virtually guaranteed an All Conference slot. i just see more downside in him coming back. Just ask Shaun Wade.

i imagine he'll test the waters to see what feedback he gets. My guess is that he'll really like what he hears.

I'll tell you if Whyle and Taylor continue to progress they both will get Nfl Shots. Big kids with a lot of athleticism. I thought yesterday was really both players best games. I believe i also saw Bruno Labelle make an appearance after the early season injury yesterday.
