you don't know much about the history of CCU, do you?

If ESPN wants CCU/Liberty for a featured timeslot, then ESPN will get CCU/Liberty.

Regardless of what your feelings might be about it, if current trends hold that would be a MONSTER of a game.

CCU/Troy very probably won't have an effect on the larger conference race. SHould he have the option, I'm sure Mr Ellison will be smart about this and take the exposure, the $$$ and the time in the sun while he can.

Lol EXACTLY! Comical that anyone would think that the Sun Belt is going to issue a decree on this issue and CCU will bow down and oblige.

Just like any other school in this conference would do if in our situation, Coastal will make the call. I can’t guarantee what that call will be because a lot hinges on next weekend, but the Sun Belt won’t be making the decision.

Just because a message board poster claims that the sun belt will dictate this doesn’t make it so.

RE: #15 Coastal Carolina @ Troy moved to ESPN2
I mean SBC rules even say any team only has to play 75% of their scheduled conference games to be eligible to host the SBC championship. So realistically Coastal only has to play one more conference game.

A terrible scenario of Coastal and App not playing exists where Coastal would still host the championship game. While that is a terribly awful proposal App would have to lose a game. I think the only way that happens this year is if Coastal plays them.

So let’s play ball!

Someone has gotten a few of y'all really worked up. so here is the short and simple version. If change is to happen, Coastal and the Sun Belt, and whoever else is involved, a 3rd and/or 4th team maybe even ESPN, whoever will all get together and decide whats best. some will have more weight in the decision but there is no unilateral decision being made from either party to change the schedule in the ways y'all talking about. key part of all that is to make changes to current schedule.

This ^^ is the “exactly”. No one, especially not just Coastal will make this decision. The one paying the bills is the TV network/contract, that filters through the Sun Belt, who has to get everyone below them to agree.

What “should” happen is obvious, no one is arguing that. But it’s naïveté in its purest form to think a “school” holds the power. Simply false. No matter what any message board poster “thinks” they know. Strong opinions don’t make them right, sadly.

Lol. Fun watching you back pedal so fast.

You literally just said that the conference would make the call and we would do whatever they said.

Your exact words: “We will do as the Conference decides. Period.“

Now all of the sudden it’s a “joint” decision.

Cute.

ESPN is now reporting that CCU vs Troy will be made up Dec 12. That’d would mean Troy dropping their make up vs USA. Would mean CCU plays the week prior to the CG, while the presumed West winner, Louisiana would have 2+ weeks to prep. That’s the cost of keeping the LU game.

If Coastal beats App St, I’d have rather bagged one game (Troy or LU), regardless of who. But this would answer the question of the league’s feelings on the need of having a balanced divisional schedule to ensure “fairness” to both App St and CCU. Looks like CCU isn’t getting to decide it, NO surprise.

Nice self serving spin. I’ve only said, correctly, that you are wrong. You said Coastal would have the call, I said no. Coastal will go along with what the powers that be say. Reference the above... Coastal is gloriously “choosing” to play every week until the CG, at a clear disadvantage. Get over yourself (not likely).

You obviously have no connection what so ever in athletics. Teams and the conference will work hand in hand for the betterment of all. It isn’t all about Coastal or any other program.

So I guess #1 is still correct, BUT after today, with the close game with Ga State, and possibly not having Zac Thomas I like Coastal's chances next week over App.

RE: #15 Coastal Carolina @ Troy moved to ESPN2
Passing along some of what has been discussed with our AD:

A) As of end yesterday, nothing CCU/Troy had been decided, several scenarios in play, including CCU/Troy playing Dec 19 (if CCU not in CG - imo so unnecessary as it wouldn’t impact any “unbalanced” division standings at that point)
B) Conference has final say, period.
C) Language in LU contract to cancel based on SB needs

All this, as was assumed, would seem to make the smart play being waiting out at least next week's results. Flies against the ESPN info today. Haven’t confirmed the ESPN info as of yet, but that scenario was indeed one of the options.

Obviously everyone involved will want the best scenario for the SB and it’s individual teams, and yes that likely includes keeping the LU game. With the potential QB loss for App St today, it’s even more likely Coastal will be looking for any other boost they can get (assumption of a win at my own risk...). That boost is only relevant if LU hangs on to their perfect record next week, they lose and they plummet like a rock, and the game becomes expendable imo.

Seems to be too much yet to be determined for the ESPN info to be “real” yet, and the fact we haven’t seen it reproduced anywhere else, by either school, makes it questionable if someone jumped the gun over there.

But whatever the conference hands us, we are ready.

So, I looked into all of these teams schedules. You move Troy-USA to Dec. 5, play Troy-CCU on Dec. 12 and play Troy-ULM on Dec. 19.

You’re welcome.

You’re welcome.

That’s very well thought out.

The only issue I’d have with this, and it’s only an issue if CCU beats App St this week, is that it creates an imbalance in days off/prep time for the East & West winners, going into the CG.

We lose to App St, no one cares. We win, I’d rather cancel Troy, because even if we lose the Troy game, we still win the head to head with App St. Its a formality. Seems like a formality shouldn’t create such an imbalance. Imo, it’s at least be worth waiting to see what happens. LU goes down, scrap them and play Troy 12/5, move Troy other games to 12/12&19 like you said.

I get playing the divisional games, I do...

That shouldn’t play into the decision making. If you have an opportunity to get games in, they should be played.
