Levi Lewis is the Cajuns problem. He is a very poor passer and the staff is very reluctant to allow him to run.j

Your OL is the problem, not terrible, but last yrs unit was best in SBC, this unit probably middle of SBC, every game I’ve watched this yr a lot more defensive players in your backfield

you cant say that to some of our fans. everything is Levi Lewis fault.

I like Lewis, I think he is one of the better qbs in the conference, but he is feeling a lot more pressure this yr

Lewis makes enough mistakes to get heat from fans, but he broke in 3 true freshmen receivers unexpectedly, and as you pointed out, his OL is not close to the same as last season. when blame should be going around to all parts of the offense, some fans refuse to focus on any thing other than Lewis.

Congrats to the Cajuns by the way. Both teams played horribly, but you guys continue to have our number

Good enough game Cajuns. If we play you this close I hope you find the problems before you play CC or App in the championship game. Not trying to be snarky. I think we are that bad. Congrats on the win.

I think you guys did some things on defense today that weren’t on tape and definitely played a part in us looking horrible. Best of luck the rest of the season!

OL is a weakness. Everything looks different without two NFL guys up there. Our run game is inconsistent because of it and that makes everything else harder. Some Cajun fans would have you think that Lewis is the problem.

As a long time Cajuns fan, Levi hasn't played well as we saw last season. Even then, he had 3 plays that cost us points in the championship game. He's also missed on passes this year that he typically doesn't miss. The int in the coastal game cost dearly.

Having said that, out OL is struggling to run block and that puts us in lots of third and long situations. Losing 3 wr's in August didn't help either. Billy needs to open it up sooner, which he did at tx state.

But, there's nothing like getting a good run game going, so can't blame him for starting that way.

This is a rivalry game so you can throw the records out the window. I feel like our games are always a one possession final.

I’m having a hard time determining if the Cajuns are good or not. Are they good and just play up or down to their competition? Or are they an average team? At the very least, it appears last year’s Cajun team was much better. What are Louisiana fans’ thoughts?

Basically the same as yours.

In regards to the other posters' comments on LL. He'll make a play or two a game that makes me pull my hair out, but largely play calling was my biggest issue this game. I think after the first two drives of nothing, it would have done the offense some good to draw up a designed run for LL. He's small, but elusive and aware enough where if he gets into the open field he can get tons of yards and either get out of bounds or slide to avoid the hit. On UL's first TD of the game you could see what LL can do with his legs. About 5 to 8 LL runs a game would be great to see.

Play calling is limited due to LL’s inability to effectively pass in certain zones of the field. It allows the defense to stack the box because LL doesn’t have an NFL WR like Jamarcus Bradley to throw to anymore.

We get it, you're not a fan of him. But replying in multiple threads on multiple boards about it is getting really friggin old. If you have a suggestion on how things could be improved for the offense, I'm all ears, otherwise take your useless b****ing elsewhere.

The suggestion would be to quit forcing LL to do stuff that he isn’t good at. Get Neal Johnson WAY more involved in the offense. Use the passing game in areas of LL strength. He throws the quick routes and seam routes pretty well. He doesn’t have the arm strength to drive the deep ball to any of our WR’s which is why they all look like jump balls. Use the RBs in the passing game more, screens and out of the backfield against LBs where there are glaring mismatches. Design more plays for LL to use his legs.

Do all of those things and the OL wouldn’t struggle nearly as much. Yes, we lost two OL to the NFL, but only Dotson played the majority of the season last year. We do not have that mauler anymore, so we must use a little more finesse when designing the game plan.

Want more?

Nope. All are great suggestions. I like some of what I saw from him for the TxSt game. And then I remember a game last year where Napier game planned really well to LL’s strengths, may have been the game vs Coastal? Hopefully we see some adjustments this Saturday.
