RE: gregg marshall fired
Major screwup in the exit contract with Marshall. There's no mitigation clause. Marshall isn't required to seek employment and if he gets employment, WSU still has to pay him the entire $7.75 mill ($48,000+ every 2 weeks for 6 years).

Unless WSU's lawyers were incredibly and unbelievably incompetent, there's only one explanation.

The AD is dirty in this deal. He knew all about it and did nothing when it happened. If that's the case, then Marshall may have been willing to go to court and take down the AD.

End result seems to be that Marshall was more willing to go to court than the AD. Marshall is getting $1.3 mill a year for 6 years. If donor money and season ticket sales stay the same, which is doubtful, that leaves $2.2 mill max for a coach in the next 6 years.

I believe the AD may have torpedoed the athletic department in an attempt to use donor money to save his own sorry ass.

Yep. Nobody fired Marshall but himself.

It would not be the first time an athletic department eschewed standard contract clauses in a desperate attempt to retain a coach.

A reminder to Shocker fans that Tubby Smith - the coach lavished with praise by some here while chiding Tiger fans for impatience - is available.

Memphis fans are gluttons for punishment. Tubby destroying Peso over and over again till the NCAA drops the hammer is probably something you shouldn't tempt karma with as a program.

Weak bait even by your standards. Carry on...

Sorry, I have been told that WSU fans have their heart set on Bob Richey.

Memphis fans think starting obvious facts is trolling. It will never happen because Tubby was at TU and is finishing up his career while Wichita will be looking for someone long term preferably in the middle of their career, but wow would that be sweet to watch the melt.

I'm going to start praying about it. Who knows maybe God's plan is for me to die laughing.

The lack of a mitigation clause is in the termination agreement.

Seriously (Potentially) good move.
First of all: you’ve gotta love any AAC head coach named “Brown.”
Do Kennedy and Brown have a past?
Will they be able to work together or is a reverse-SMU HCIW scenario? Honest question.

They've known each other for 30 years I guess. Brown played for Kennedy back in the 90s.

As far as the rest? I dunno... But on paper it's a really good hire to me.

That's a great hire!

Kennedy will be an outstanding asset at Wichita State.

Congrats, Shockers fans!
