Piggy has a QB Rating of 114 (only 12 out of 105 qbs worse) and thats without throwing a INT all season. Let that sink in...ZERO INTS and qb rating of 114. KT the back up qb that Helton chose to start when Piggy was injured has a qb rating of 105
take the points
Scored 21 in the Louisville game ...blocked 2 punts and took over both inside the Louisville 5 yard line
10 points vs BYU returned a INT to the BYU 3
Chattanooga scored the only TD after taking over at mid field and a ruffing the passer call on 3rd down
14 vs Marshall with points coming in 4th qt
Liberty is the only game that Western played any offense in
Middle was giving up something like 200 a game and Western was cvery lucky to put 20 on the board
6 points vs FAU and no, that wasnt because of FAUs defense...Westerns offense is just that bad
S. Miss will get their first ever win against Western on Saturday
Last season, late in the year, when WKU came to H'burg, I thought they were one of the better coached teams that I had seen all season. They impressed me in many ways and I was expecting that to carry over to this season. What has happened this year?
Coach Helton does not have the eye to spot and develop talent. The fact he chose Piggy to start and then say "this team has the chance to be as good on offense as 2015 and 2016" . Says it all.
Last year if not for the season ending injury to Ducan, Storey never sees the field. Storey wasnt a great QB but knew his limitations and made great decisions.
A avg qb like Storey was all this team needed. Duncan the QB Helton chose to start last year was a avg qb but he made bad decisions. He transferred before the season started after Helton let it be known Piggy was his QB.
This team had 18 starters coming back and the top 2 WR transferred out right before the season fr one and 2 games in for the other. Helton is not a bad coach he just isnt a very good offensive coach and as I said....
everytime he had the chance to pick a QB, he's made the wrong decision. Once last year and so far three times this season.
1. starting Piggy
2. Starting KT as Piggy's replacement (turf toe)
3. giving the job by to Piggy
His offensive play calling is awful along with spotting skilled talent . The thing that made me know for a fact on both of those....
any coach that could watch this offense for 15 practices and then say they could be "2015 & 2016 good"...is clueless.
Western has their version of Jack Abraham that Helton will not give a chance. Davis Shanley played 8 games as a freshman completing 68% and mostly made correct reads. Something this team badly needs. Piggy is the worse QB THAT i HAVE ever seen at reading a defense or making correct decisions...on time.
This team with a avg qb wins 7 to 8 games and plays in a bowl this year
