We have a shot if our first string QB can play. We don't have a chance if the third stringer starts this game.

I/we/usm fans for the most part were saying that when Abraham started against Rice after missing the Liberty game and we all know how that turned out.......two 2nd quarter FGs was all the scoring we had. Regardless of our QB my projection is WKU 24 to 31 range, USM 14 to 17 range

Can Western even score 8 points? I think 10 is the limit but wouldnt be shocked with 7 points. Dont see 14 unless its a pick 6 or turnover inside the 5.

Piggy has a QB Rating of 114 (only 12 out of 105 qbs worse) and thats without throwing a INT all season. Let that sink in...ZERO INTS and qb rating of 114. KT the back up qb that Helton chose to start when Piggy was injured has a qb rating of 105

take the points

Scored 21 in the Louisville game ...blocked 2 punts and took over both inside the Louisville 5 yard line
10 points vs BYU returned a INT to the BYU 3
Chattanooga scored the only TD after taking over at mid field and a ruffing the passer call on 3rd down
14 vs Marshall with points coming in 4th qt
Liberty is the only game that Western played any offense in
Middle was giving up something like 200 a game and Western was cvery lucky to put 20 on the board
6 points vs FAU and no, that wasnt because of FAUs defense...Westerns offense is just that bad

S. Miss will get their first ever win against Western on Saturday

Last season, late in the year, when WKU came to H'burg, I thought they were one of the better coached teams that I had seen all season. They impressed me in many ways and I was expecting that to carry over to this season. What has happened this year?

Last season, late in the year, when WKU came to H'burg, I thought they were one of the better coached teams that I had seen all season. They impressed me in many ways and I was expecting that to carry over to this season. What has happened this year?

Coach Helton does not have the eye to spot and develop talent. The fact he chose Piggy to start and then say "this team has the chance to be as good on offense as 2015 and 2016" . Says it all.

Last year if not for the season ending injury to Ducan, Storey never sees the field. Storey wasnt a great QB but knew his limitations and made great decisions.

A avg qb like Storey was all this team needed. Duncan the QB Helton chose to start last year was a avg qb but he made bad decisions. He transferred before the season started after Helton let it be known Piggy was his QB.

This team had 18 starters coming back and the top 2 WR transferred out right before the season fr one and 2 games in for the other. Helton is not a bad coach he just isnt a very good offensive coach and as I said....

everytime he had the chance to pick a QB, he's made the wrong decision. Once last year and so far three times this season.

1. starting Piggy
2. Starting KT as Piggy's replacement (turf toe)
3. giving the job by to Piggy

His offensive play calling is awful along with spotting skilled talent . The thing that made me know for a fact on both of those....

any coach that could watch this offense for 15 practices and then say they could be "2015 & 2016 good"...is clueless.

Western has their version of Jack Abraham that Helton will not give a chance. Davis Shanley played 8 games as a freshman completing 68% and mostly made correct reads. Something this team badly needs. Piggy is the worse QB THAT i HAVE ever seen at reading a defense or making correct decisions...on time.

This team with a avg qb wins 7 to 8 games and plays in a bowl this year

Speaking of QB play, USM has started a different QB in each of the last 4 games as well as the same one hasn't started consecutive games since games 3 and 4.

game 1) South Alabama - Abraham
game 2) La Tech - Abraham
3) Tulane - Abraham
4) UNT - Abraham (tested positive for Covid the following week)
5) Liberty - Whatley (got hurt last series of game)
6) Rice - Abraham (got hurt just before halftime, didn't return)
7) North Alabama - Lowe (Abraham was on sidelines in shorts)
8) Western Kentucky - Abraham or Lowe????

See game 6....get his bell rung pretty good just before haltime vs Rice, didnt' return that game, and didn't dress out in pads Saturday. USM has stuck to it's policy of not releasing info on hurt/sick players so any info that has been released would have came from the player or one of his friends in all likelihood.

Have you seen us play? Our defense is horrendous. The line doesn't get any pressure and the linebackers are so slow. The dbs play 10 yards off the wrs. Our offensive line is also very bad and has been for about 3 years now. We have so many problems, but Abraham/Jones should be able to keep us in it.

Is your defense as good as Rice's? If so, then no. If not, then yes.

I think a better question have you seen the Western offence play? This Western offense had seven 12 to 20 play drives in the last 3 games that ended in a total of 6 points. A total of 404 yards in 112 plays ...3.6 yards a play. Those were the good drives

1. 17 plays a total of 57 yards 9:31 ZERO points

2. 14 plays 61 yards 6:54 FG

3. 14 plays 49 yards 8:14 FG

4. 20 plays 74 yards 10:06 ZERO points

5. 12 plays 57 yards 5:33 ZERO points

6. 19 plays 59 yards 7:46 ZERO points

7. 16 plays 47 yards 7:11 ZERO points

A lot of 3 plays and punt or 2 plays and fumble mixed in with those long drives and no points.

I think there are only 5 drives of more than 50 yards ending in a TD for the whole season. So unless S. Miss turns it over inside your 35 Western most likely only scores 10 points or less

Funny thread. Most sports threads are fans arguing over who has the best team. We seem to be arguing over who sucks more. What does that say about the conference this year?

Enjoy Frank Gore Jr. while you can. We probably won't see you back on the schedule for a while.

We're a clanking machine with a few missing parts each game so far. We finally have both Abraham and Jones set to play again. Our OLine is getting healthier too. Our offense has good potential.

If our defense learned to play within its limitations by dominating UNA, then we have a shot the rest of the way. I think we need to overachieve a little here.
