Marshall friends. We’ve had the opportunity to be your a opponent a number of times for the anniversary. This year we will have the humbling experience to be your opponent once again - this time to the day of the 50th Anniversary of the plane crash.

The perseverance of your institution and community is remarkable to have gone through that, come back, and achieved as much as you have. And for good measure we are so bad this year that you get a cupcake to bludgeon for the enjoyment of all the locals.

Even though I’m die hard Blue. Come Saturday... We are Marshall!

God Bless.

Whoever wins, I think a nice gesture would be to leave the game ball at the 50 yard line after the clock hits zero...

Just announced that Michael W Smith will perform at the fountain ceremony and sing the National Anthem at the game.

He grew up just a few miles from the crash site and was 13 years old at the time of the crash.

https://herdzone.com/news/2020/11/9/foot...-lost.aspx

"I am so deeply honored to be performing at the Memorial Fountain Ceremony and have the opportunity to sing the national anthem at the game on Saturday at Marshall University to remember the victims of the plane crash on its 50th anniversary," said Smith. "Growing up in Kenova, I remember exactly where I was that day with my father and how the community rallied together. I am blessed to be able to be a part of this weekend."

Wow dude, the really cool. A really good ask by the athletic department.

I know that will be an emotional moment.

My wife and I listen to the podcast "The World and Everything in it," it's a Conservative Christian world news podcast, so I absolutely understand if it's not for everybody.

But I thought it was surprising that they even had a segment discussing the 50th anniversary of the plane crash and the game this weekend in today's podcast.

Appreciate the positive feedback. Some things are just more important than a game but there are things that are also important because of the game. This is one of those moments. I know our guys won’t lay down and will give their best to win the game. And I firmly believe you all wouldn’t have it any other way.

Much respect Marshall. I will toast one for you all at high noon on Saturday. Cheers.

I had my son (13) who goes to and watches every game with me research and read the story yesterday. He couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t believe you still have a football team. Respect and prayers.

That said I really need Middle to win this one.

I’m getting tired of beating FAU every year and then watching them win championships. Our two inexplicable nemesis games are the next two. Don’t know why we have trouble with Middle and Charlotte, but we do.

I understand where you're coming from, but usually we only have trouble with Middle when we play in Murfreesboro.

And aside from that one 3-9 season, last year was the first legit Charlotte win.

If we lose in the next two weeks, it's going to be a lapse of focus, and that's my biggest concern. Not others beating us, but Marshall beating Marshall.

Charlotte has given us fits. We have never had the game decided before halftime with them.

Well you might this year. After that Duke game result I'm not sure who we are as a team.

That said, glad to help keep your boys on their toes.

Kudos sir. You get the big picture. That being said, MT has had our number on more than a few occasions. We'll have to play very well.

Some late breaking speculation -
With Alabama at LSU and Texas A&M at Tennessee now both cancelled, CBS no longer has an available SEC game for its planned Saturday 6:00 spot.

CBS only owns the rights to two games available this weekend -

MTSU at #16 Marshall (50th anniversary of the crash)
Southern Miss at WKU

If CBS moves a game to the slot rather than counter-program, I think it's likely to be our game....
