As has been pointed out, that would be our highest winning percentage in several years, and our fewest losses in generations.

What a great year!! Something to build on....

Any idea how many fifth year seniors / transfers might return next year?

(How would this affect scholarships?)

This is was one of the motivating factors behind the creation of the new Rice Athletics Scholarship Fund, separate from Owl Club general funding.

If my school delayed the start of my season and I only ended up playing 2 games without fans I’d transfer with my degree in a second.

If we need a game to follow this weekend (or next), maybe we should be tuning into Iowa 8-man playoffs. There was a semi-final game last night that finished 108-94.

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/...265698002/

The winning team was down 72-34 midway through the 3rd quarter! The losing team only had just over 13 minutes time-of-possession - meaning they scored about 1 TD per minute of possession. Some crazy stats in this game.

You also have to wonder about whether basketball will get a chance to play too. The Ivy League just canceled all winter sports (including hoops). I've seen the schedules for both teams and the men are supposed to start their season in 2 weeks at Incarnate Word (they also play Our Lady of the Lake out there - it was supposed to be a tournament that also included North Dakota but they must have opted out).

UTEP's next "home" game next week is going to be played in Midland at 10 AM on Friday...as the curtain-raiser for the Midland/Midland Lee HS football game at 6 PM. Supposedly they might just play the rest of their "home" games there.

Now cancelled

What a great year!! Something to build on....

And unfortunately, the least number of wins since, oh, not so long ago.

They call me optimistic owl because that is the handle I chose for myself 15 years ago.

But it is true that I am a generally sunny type of guy who finds silver linings in all sorts of clouds.
