I'm pretty sure I'm out on IPA's now.

I had the new session IPA and pilsner from Highland Gaelic Ale. Actually, kind of surprisingly, the pilsner was much more crisp and had a better taste to me than the IPA.

This is the information we're all craving right now.

clt says it is easier to make a decent ipa than a Pilsner. Thus, every generic craft brewer had a ipa
loki burned out on IPAs many years ago. The race to extreme hoppiness ruined many a good IPA. Most have become analogous to the hot sauces that depend merely on scoville extremes and not on flavor.

Never waste one day drinking an IPA.

I think the new hipster beer going forward will be variance on ales.

And I'm down for that.

They have their time and place. I am much more selective now than a few years ago for sure. The only IPAs from Charlotte I'll drink semi regularly are Juicy Jay from Legion and whatever Town Brewing is doing. I also like Wooden Robot and Free Range. I've heard great things about Salud in Noda but never been.

never got into the stouts and porters like some of my buddies.

I don't care for West Coast IPAs, particularly the ones that try to come off like tree liquor, but I'm A-OK with the New England juicy style. But give me a high-gravity stout aged in something, conditioned on something else and infused with at least one more something.

This! A high gravity anything is definitely tasty. I had one I can't remember who it was from, but it was a high gravity and it had more of a banana note to it.

It was amazing I wish I knew who it was.

Dogfish Head and Avery are my preferred breweries for high-gravity brews, mostly for my positive experiences with World Wide Stout and Samael. Avery's latest in the barrel-aged series are tops. I had one or two good ones from Weyerbacher back in the day (if their Quad counts) as well.

I am not an aficionado like some of you but I know what I like. I am not a fan of IPAs, my wife is so I have tried but not my thing. My favorite right now is Kentucky Bourbon Ale, that to me is perfect. Love Browns and the occasional stout. Cigar City Brown and for an everyday beer Newcastle.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is brewed right here in Lexington, KY.

That one seems to be just about everywhere in the south.

However, we locals have a fondness for West 6th Brewery. They have a lot of variants. Mostly seasonal, however, they've brewed just about every kind of beer their is.

Unbelievable.

"Restrictive governors"? You mean governors who care about their people a little more than cannon fodder?

We visited West 6th when we were in Lexington in March and really enjoyed it. Great beer, friendly people.

Goliath, I'm going to be very careful how I handle this, because I don't want this to spiral into a political conversation. But I'll just say this.

When I mean restrictive, I mean telling people they can't have Thanksgiving, can't have Christmas. If you have Thanksgiving you are forced to quarantine for 14 days. Don't you think that's a little far-fetched?

Regardless, governor's ought to be able to balance the risk to their economies and to their health of the public. That's the responsibility, it's a health line of all factors, not just coronavirus.

There were many horrible repercussions in third world countries where many families lost loved ones who died not from coronavirus in their country, but from the coronavirus shutdowns we had in America that put a pinch on their food sources and people starved to death. So their are real world economic problems that come from complete shutdowns.

And let me be clear, I'm a conservative, but I wholeheartedly agree we all need to mask up and stay safe. But there is a line that I think some governors cross.

I am having my Thanksgiving and my Hanukkah with just those closest to me - those already living with me. I will cheerfully sacrifice a massive celebration so my diabetic son does not get compromised because someone puts economy above people's health.

And, although I am a bleeding heart, Bernie bro, big city, elitist, social-democratic Liberal, I only have a big problem with those who refuse wearing masks or following social distancing rules, or those who insist on piling into uncontrolled public events, or those who proclaim that COVID is a hoax and/or it is not dangerous to one's health.

I also get annoyed when people say "hey, no student athletes died from COVID". Right, but they are just as likely to pass it on to those who could. And, by the way, the worst thing imaginable, to our economy, is deaths of hundreds of thousands of consumers. A consumer-based economy, such as ours, is only as strong as the health of the consumers. We can flood our economy with millions of tons of newly-printed paper dollars, so the quarantined people and small businesses can pay the bills, but we can NOT mint new consumers.

I mean kind of honestly, I get annoyed at every single one of those things myself.

I think we can achieve a reasonable ballance.

I am still going to celebrate my Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and friends. I guess that's my point, we don't need to be told to not do these things.

Anyway, sounds like we're very similar, except politically. So I will raise a beer to you my friend!
