BYU has better TV numbers and better home attendance year over year. This is why BYU is the better program for the AAC.

Agree, Byu would by far be the best add, and I think it makes sense for both sides. unfortunately BYU does not think it does. Unless we have to add #12 I think you stand pat for now.

It’s been a couple of years, but a former AAC AD told me no more private schools was the general feeling
Thanks, but that makes no sense. I doubt the AAC would turn down Norte Dame because they are a private school.

Agree, but they are a private school like ND. Therefore, it is something else limited the vote to one or two yeas. What is it?

It's better with no divisions but if worse came to worse, we could play with uneven divisions.

Finally something we agree on!

If the AAC truly wants to become a FB power conference, and if BYU isn't interested, adding a perennial top 25 FB program would be the most likely way to achieve that goal - - and Boise State has a better resume than the other contenders (App. State, Marshall, etc.).

What sets Boise State apart from the "other contenders" is its proven track record when it comes to average viewership. Adding a school with high average viewership (e.g., 500,000 per game) could double the average viewership for the conference as a whole.

The only conditions would be stipulating that Boise State would be a FB-only member, and a willingness on Boise State's part to negotiate a revenue package that is acceptable to the AAC Presidents, with no demands for "special treatment" other than, perhaps, the kind of flexibility accorded to Navy.

You really think 500,000 viewer per game is a good average viewership number? Georgia State has better viewership than 500,000!

I don't see how it makes sense for Boise, so I don't see it happening.

The geography, the money and dumping the other sports into the WAC. Nope.

We need an all sports addition to balance the league. Is ESPN the one stalling this?

(11-07-2020 07:51 PM)GoOwls111 Wrote:  You really think 500,000 viewer per game is a good average viewership number?

500,000 viewers for a single game isn't top notch but if you look through the viewership ratings at this website, it would be quite a good average viewership number.

https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college...v-ratings/

Let's consider BYU's viewership numbers, for example, since the MWC got off to such a late start:

week 1: 1,150,000
week 2: DNP
week 3: postponed (vs. Army)
week 4: 795,000
week 5: 505,000
week 6: 317,000
week 7: 1,160,000
week 8: 716,000
week 9: 778,000
week 10: not yet available (Boise St.)

At present, BYU's average viewership has been over 700,000 per game, which is higher than any of the other P5 teams.

Now, let's consider Cincy's viewership:

week 1: not available
week 2: not available
week 3: not available
week 4: 1,080,000
week 5: not available
week 6: not available
week 7: not available
week 8: 485,000
week 9: 679,000

Presumably, the "not listed" viewership numbers were below 200,000 per game. If this is correct, then Cincinnati's average 2020 viewership, per game, may be in the 500,000 range.

Navy:

week 1: 1,150,000
week 2: not available
week 3: 1,350,000
week 4: not available
week 5: not available
week 6: not available
week 7: 261,000
week 8: not available
week 9: 218,000

Based on similar assumptions, Navy's average 2020 viewership, per game, may be in the 400,000 to 500,000 range.

KANSAS:

week 1: not listed
week 2: 375,000
week 3: not listed
week 4: 301,000
week 5: 905,000
week 6: not listed
week 7: 1,460,000
week 8: 289,000
week 9: 247,000

These numbers are consistent with an average per game viewership similar to Navy's (400,000 to 500,000 per game)

.

Here are some more numbers to consider:

APP ST
(data available for weeks 2, 3, & 8):

week 2: 408,000
week 3: 1,250,000
week 8: 384,000

MARSHALL
(data available for weeks 1 & 3):

week 1: 980,000
week 3: 1,250,000

MEMPHIS
(data available for weeks 1 & 3):

week 1: 1,030,000
week 5: 315,000
week 7: 1,900,000
week 9: 679,000

BOISE STATE:

week 8: 549,000

LOUISIANA
:

week 2: 1,680,000
week 3: 422,000
week 4: 246,000

.

Some other P5 games:

K ST-WVU 669,000
IND-RUT 506,000
IA ST-KANSAS 247,000
TCU-BAYLOR 353,000
PUR-ILL "not available"
IOWA-PUR 795,000
WVU-TX TECH 685,000
RUT-MSU 608,000
KU-K ST 289,000
MD-NORTHWESTERN 186,000
TX TECH-K ST 557,000
IOWA ST-TCU 346,000
KANSAS-BAYLOR 301,000

BYU is also private. We'd turned down BYU - Bank it.

I will bet you money Liberty won’t get the votes unless they change their academics. Nothing to do with religion, they accept anyone with a bank account.

The internet I'm looking at says Liberty's admission standards are similar to current members East Carolina and Memphis. You have a credible link showing they accept everyone based on money? I would like to see it. Thanks
