2000 fans allowed at Houston Open this weekend with masks, but little to no social distancing, but fans not allowed at Rice home games where they could easily meet social distancing guidelines, even with a typical Rice crowd. Sigh!

Sounds like it is time for a common sense task force! No reason you could not have 5,000 fans there.

I can think of a reason they WOULDN'T have 5,000 fans...

Anybody else get the impression that Joe's email was pretty ballsy? I don't think it is generally a good idea to go calling out your bosses like that.

I wonder what is the back story there. Is Joe on the way out and doesn't give a damn? Does he have his next gig lined up and this is just his parting shot? Or is he just so fed up with the whole Rice system that his frustration boiled over?

If those facts are so overwhelming, why is Rice even trying to get play football? Why is it OK for family members to be in the stadium? Why are there students on campus?

Good points. I think he's feeling most of the heat from this, not Leebron. In the end, he's really only setting the record straight with the letter.

That stadium is so big, and we only have 2,000 fans. Put those upper decks to use for a change. Open up Rice Stadium.

If they're so concerned, don't sell food, and only sell bottled beverages. It's no big deal. We have to learn to live again. This is crazy. Open it up for God's sake.

I just note that lots of schools seem to be able to play in front of crowds on a regular basis, and wonder why we are different.

All the more reason for us to play, but the point I was trying make was that playing multiple games in front of crowds of any size (anybody see Notre Dame) does not seem to be a problem to others.

52 games canceled or postponed in FBS thus far. The Leebron effect is taking hold it seems.

I remember thinking, when it was proposed that football crowds be limited to 1/4 capacity, that that would be no problem for Rice.

I guess somebody thought it would be.
