It was announced earlier tonight on the BleedTechBlue radio show that, instead of Illinois, Tech will now open the season at LSU's round robin tournament. So Tech will open the season with:

Feb 23 @UL-Lafayette

UL and LSU will be tough. Hopefully, y'all can get out of there with 3 wins.

Two 9s may have been too much, but I was hoping for a 7-inning game followed by a 9-inning game. In that format if the first game went extra innings, the second game would be reduced to 7 innings automatically.

Looks like that report has no confirmation now. All information still shows C-USA playing 24 conference games (8 3-game series).

Tech's posted schedule will show 31 non-conference games to go with the 24 conference games when the LSU round-robin is added.

As far as USM all that has been posted is from other team's releases. We host UConn for a weekend 3 game series while we go to Jacksonville St (Alabama) for a weekend 3 game series. Jacksonville St has hosted Missouri and Purdue the last 2 years so not exactly like we're playing at a FCS football school. And i feel like the Jacksonville St series is a home and home with them coming to us next year as I don't see USM/Berry playing a one and done series at their place. Other non conference games are a neutral site game vs Mississippi St, a road game at Alabama and a home game vs Nichols St. The Alabama, MSU and Nichols St games are all single midweek games.

We are also hosting ULL for a weekend series.

The League's ADs voted in early January to go from 8 - 3 games weekends to 8- 4 game weekends. This has caused several schools to adjust their schedules. For some reason LaTech released their schedule around Thanksgiving. Most have not released schedules yet. Some conferences haven't even announced their formats yet.
