ECU Says No Thanks....Won't Reschedule Marshall This Year

ECWho would have beaten to a bloody pulp and they know it. No way they were taken that beating this year if they didn't have to.

ECU was a pretty solid FB program when we joined CUSA in 2013 and before - what has happened to them? I know they have good fan support.

They fired Ruffin McNeil who was a decent coach and alum. And hired one of the most inept coaches in the nation in Scottie Montgomery (Duke AHC/OC). The ECU record since firing McNeil is 14-38. It will be interesting to see if Mike Houston and his staff can recruit. Houston has never been somewhere long enough to see his recruiting classes though: At Lenoir–Rhyne 3 years, The Citadel 2 years, At JMU 3 years and ECU in his 2nd year.

Of all the FBS-level football games that were cancelled this year, how many have been rescheduled?

RE: ECU Says No Thanks....Won't Reschedule Marshall This Year
Sounds like it was gonna be set for 12/5 before CUSA wanted Marshall to reschedule a conference game. Would have been a long shot for ECU to win but I still would have liked a chance at the end of the season at home. It may have been a financial burden though with only 7.5% capacity, although it would have been a nice TV opportunity.

It's been a tough 5 yrs for ECU fans but I've seen tangible improvements the last 3 games despite the record. Blew out USF on the road, lost a heartbreaker to Navy w/o our star QB & 5 other starters due to aac covid protocols (no one actually had it), & lost a heartbreaker @ Tulsa due to aac refs.

How special would this game have been on 11/14/20?

Serious question: As an ECU fan, do you have any regrets about ECU leaving CUSA and joining the AAC?

I ask, because clearly ECU has not been able to compete with the AAC schools since joining the AAC in 2014. ECU's AAC record (14-38) since joining the AAC is dismal. That's got to be taking a toll on your ECU fan base.

Season/Overall/AAC Record
2020 - 1-4/1-3 (partial season)
2019 - 4-8/1-7
2018 - 3-9/1-7
2017 - 3-9/2-6
2016 - 3-9/1-7
2015 - 5-7/3-5
2014 - 8-5/5-3

Total = 27-51/14-38

CUSA:
2013 - 10-3/6-2
2012 - 8-5/7-1

Man, I think you need to do some fact checking into the efforts made for trying to reschedule it before you put out there we wouldn't. And basically, the "final" decision kind of came down between Marshall/CUSA and ECU/AAC open dates on the calendar not working out.

It damn sure wasn't because we were scared to play you.

Agreed, ECU wasn't scared. That's crazy.

Just came down to availability.

CUSA:
2013 - 10-3/6-2
2012 - 8-5/7-1

As I said its been tough no doubt but I think we're finally about to reap some benefits. Our wounds are self inflicted through bad leadership. We've been humbled for sure but somehow I still feel positive about the future based on how young we are and the improvements I've seen recently, record notwithstanding. If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Xmas, I know. Nevertheless, ECU really should be 3-1 in the AAC right now (see above) & if we can get ourselves together the AAC offers a nice platform and financial boost to showcase ECU football moving forward.
