I had my doubts but man did he make the most of his chance. I'm amazed that he had not been playing since the XFL and then he starts and looks like he's playing William and Mary and JMU.

EDIT: Bravo Taylor!!!

Talking that WFT may try and sign Matthew Stafford. I think Stafford and TH would make a great duo

RE: Taylor Heinicke
If Washington was smart they would listen to the fans and their own players and go with what they have and give allen or heinicke the chance to win job. People are saying it would cost washington 2 first rounders and chase young for Deshawn Watson. People should trust their eyes and watch the respect that heinicke has with the way he plays old school football. Those draft picks would be a waste to give up. Get some help in areas that you need, quarterback is fine. I actually like the idea one fan had, give heinicke a chance to play and get Fitzpatrick to be back up in case heinicke gets hurt or it does not work. It was not your imagination about seeing how he won the team over and i have been a fan of lions for years and Stafford is a stat guy, not a win loss guy and do you want Watson, a primadonna upsetting that chemistry.

Nice thoughts, but IMHO any general manager who would listen to the fans and players is in the wrong job. A GM's job is to build a winning team by obtaining the best players possible. I support and want good things for TH as much as anyone, but facts are Watson and Stafford would be a major upgrade at QB, especially Watson.

I concur. Love TH, but if the GM just as an AD in college simply bowed to the wishes of the fans, they would be looking for a new job because their team would such. As for DeShawn Watson. I would not want him on my team. He seems to be a poison pill.

People talk about Heinicke's rate of injury. But the fact is...any NFL player faces career threatening injury with evey snap of the ball. It could very well turn out that he will play the rest of his career injury free....or not. Taylor appears to have matured tremendously in the quarterback position since leaving ODU

I would go for Watson, because he is young and good. I would give up 2 1st rounders, maybe a third and a player, but not Young!

I don't understand this value of Watson. He is good, maybe top 10 good but he isn't Patrick Mahomes and we saw he isn't going to carry the team so giving up all these draft picks and watering down the supporting cast doesn't make sense to me.

RE: Taylor Heinicke
I am getting sick and tired of reading articles that either totally disregard TH or grossly misrepresent his performance or ability. Examples:

"Don’t give me the “Heinicke Hope” or “Allen assumption”. Ron is NOT about to go into 2021 with these two as starting options."

https://www.hogshaven.com/2021/1/31/2225...whats-next

"The Washington Football Team made the playoffs this year, though backing in with a 7-9 record made them afterthoughts. However, Ron Rivera's team came close to the eventual NFC champions, losing 31-23 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. Had Washington not needed to start Taylor Heinicke under center, the playoffs might have unfolded quite differently."

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2928...-next-year

"Now, I’m not expecting those Tyreek Hill numbers to be replicated here, but the Buccaneers secondary has seriously struggled to keep WR1’s out of the end zone this season, and they have been burned by the deep ball as well. Not only did Tyreek post a 75-yard touchdown in Week 12, but in each of Tampa Bay’s last two games, they have allowed a passing touchdown of 50 or more yards. They even allowed a 36-yard completion from the not-so-great Taylor Heinicke-Cam Sims duo in the Wild Card Round."

https://www.bettingpros.com/articles/sup...bers-2021/

"This is the team I am most fearful of. Did you see that defense this year? Chase Young is going to be a problem for years to come and really anchored that defensive unit as a rookie. Sky is the limit with him. If Washington is able to get a serviceable quarterback (sorry, Alex Smith, as great as his story is, was NOT a serviceable quarterback and neither is Taylor Heinicke)"

https://www.phlsportsnation.com/2021/01/...ke-a-seat/

"Taylor Heinicke, an undrafted free agent with his fifth organization in six years, made the playoff start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC wild-card round. There’s no guarantee that he’s the man – and he likely isn’t."

https://www.sportscasting.com/the-washin...-resolved/

Anyway, you get my drift. I understand that these kinds of articles will be written, but you would think that there would be more articles that show some actual research concerning TH and his ability. Those of us who watched him for four years know what he is capable of. Just how many QBs are there who threw for 15,000 yards playing D1 football?

Ok, I have vented. Now back to your normal broacast.

I do think Taylor can play and I think someone will give him a chance for a roster spot this upcoming season but you have to remember he's played like 2 games. The NFL is not going to buy all in to someone at his age and no experience.
