Of course, I want Marshall to win, however, I can appreciate, understand and respect the other CUSA bball programs are also improving.

WKU will be the big dog. But there's a group of about 7 or 8 programs that could fight for that second spot

It will be near impossible to pick up an at large bid this year. However, I think we'll have a good league.

Not really a basketball fan but I am excited for basketball this year.

We (Cusa) really need to win out of conference or else it will be like every other year

I believe I could have done as good a job as that guy at picking those tiers. 07-coffee3

Not sure some of those "basketball schools" belong in Tier 3 though. I would expect one or two of those to move up.

Rice predicted to finish last. We've all seen this before.

But the silver lining is, all we have to do is not finish last and we will have exceeded expectations.

There are a lot of teams that on paper should be better than last year.

I think UTEP and Charlotte will both better than last year. MTSU will be better than last year. WKU, North Texas, and La Tech should all be better than last year.

Bottom line... we have to get as fired up about beating non-conference opponents as we do about in conference opponents. That is where the difference will come.

According to this article, LA Tech is the only CUSA team that will be playing both #1 Western Kentucky and #2 UNT on the road. OUCH!!

Yeah. Tech got screwed on that front. But at the same time, that may be the best thing for them because winning those games will really boost them in the computers. Can't slip up at home though.

We just lost Jason Wade for the season again due to injury. I'd say that drops us down to the bottom of tier 3. Might be looking at .500 again. That stinks for him too. I bet he's pissed.

Will WKU be good enough to make the top 25 at some point this year, I say yes.

Is this CUSA in 2020 as good or top heavy as our 2018 league? Probably not.

We are most likely a one bid league again. This version of CUSA looks like some of those Memphis years, when they were the clear best team, and the rest of us are duking it out a couple rungs below them.

I know Southern Miss will be much more talented and have much more depth this year, but I'm not sure how that will translate into Ws and Ls or how long it will take all of the new players to gel. The Golden Eagles will have much more athleticism and length. I expect Southern Miss finish in the top 10 of CUSA and hope to finish in the top half, but it's tough to make any projections when you don't know when covid may alter some games.

We have a brutal schedule early. LSU, Louisville, even Little Rock is picked to win the belt. We could be pretty darn good, lose close games to LSU and Louisville and from there it would be a very uphill climb to the top 25. On the other hand, beat either one of those teams and the top 25 is possible.

I think recruiting rankings are more reliable for football. In basketball, I think the quality of coaching and ability to find the right fit for the system is more important. For instance, UNT's 2019 recruiting class ranked 11th in C-USA, but McCasland obviously got the right players, since this class represented the main components of our regular season championship team last season, including the conference MVP, who was a zero star recruit 04-jawdrop.

RE: Nice Thorough CUSA Basketball Preview/Ranking
Both of Rice's traditional transfers are now eligible for the 2020-21 season. Our big guy (Abercrombie) is from Boise State, but I'm not sure he'll beat out the Texas Tech transfer who sat out last year. The one who just got eligible today is Travis Evee. He was the Southern Conference freshman of the year last year, averaging 12.6 points a game. I think he might be one of the better transfers in CUSA this season.
